Todays Game: Giants (33-52) VS Tigers (37-45) at Al Kaline Field, 7:10 PM
Ty Blach (5-5, 4.60) Vs Daniel Norris (4-6, 5.00)
Ty Blach is due to shut somebody down.
Five Questions
- What’s with the Josh Donaldson to the Giants rumors?
- Would the Giants trade Joe Panik?
- Is Hunter Pence back?
- How will Ty Blach fare against the mashing Tigers?
- Should the Giants trade Eduardo Nunez?
Breck says ‘What rumors?’

Josh: One of the best Buggywhip swings….
(Gary Sheffield * Rick Ankiel * )
It’s unofficially official: Bovada took its first 3 teams off the board with odds to win the World Series this year and yes, your SF Giants (plus Phillies and Padres) are one of those.
No pressure but we need you to assess Bum tonight after his ugly time in Sac.
Thanks for braving the crowds for us. Next time I am joining you; promise.
Sounds good…will be a fun night. Probably sparse crowd after he gets his work in.
Why do you say it was ugly. I thought the last two innings he pitched were “old Bum”
1. Bored journalists, bored fans
2. No (unless another GM was desperately stupid and gave up too much…not gonna happen)
3. No. He’s having a good stretch, and we hope it lasts. But he is no longer “Hunter Pence”
4. Not too well. I like the kid, but he’s a middling lefty with average stuff who succeeds on guts and baseballs
5. As with any player, it depends. The blog has fallen HOH in love with Hwang a bit soon. Nunez has a very unique skill set, and many teams may want him…again, if the bounty is great, sure…why not?
Five Questions
(1)What’s with the Josh Donaldson to the Giants rumors?
* A chagrined Billy Beane started that rumor hoping to drive to ATT in disguise and catch a glimpse of Josh
(2) Would the Giants trade Joe Panik?
* For a Carlos Correa or Francisco Lindor. The Giants would try to “do him right” by trading with NYY or NYM
(3) Is Hunter Pence back?
* No, with anything – Pence’s sustainability is MIA
(4)How will Ty Blach fare against the mashing Tigers?
* He should win because they have never seen him live and in person before.
(5) Should the Giants trade Eduardo Nunez?
* Yes but near the deadline OR – find out who Ricky Henderson or Reggie Jackson used as their trainers for their Quads and Hamstrings.
Nick Young!
Swaggy injection…
Let’s hope he leaves the Swaggy bs in LA and gets Swaggy with the D, if not he’ll get stuck on the bench. For the $ worth the risk.
He will. I’m thinking he’s fully aware of the career pot of gold he just landed in
Yup. He played pretty well under Luke last year. It’s the perfect situation for him. We basically swapped Clark, Barnes and McAdoo for Young, Casspi and Bell. Frightening as it is, I think we got better.
I like Casspi pickup better. I was at Oracle the night he dumped 36 points on the Dubs.
The Dubs young McCaw owns #0. Time for McCaw to ask for a Bently or a years supply of Popeyes chicken from Young. 😉
Thought about that…looks like he may be able to move up to #1 though.
Was that how Beltan was able to pry #15 away from Bochy?
1). I like Donaldson for awhile and he would be a good for the team, hard nosed vet. We don’t really have a 3B answer right now, all the kids don’t seem ready to jump into the fire yet. Plus the Giants need to move on from the choir bog BS and get tougher.
2) No because 1) they won’t get same worth in return and 2) no reason to break up the Crawford tandem yet unless they has a young star behind him in the minors (which they don’t)
3) No, he’ll have his upswings and look good for a few weeks, but it’s not consistent. He’s getting old quick.
4) Tiger’s the better team, Giants most likely will get swept
5) Yes, only because they need to get young talent in return and Nunez doesn’t fit both the short term and long term needs.
Describe what this is in detail? the choir bog BS and get tougher.
plenty has been written about the Giant’s just lacking fire. Pence is not enough, plus Pence is not the same player he was a few years back when he was rallying the troops. A guy like Donaldson would be a welcome addition to providing some veteran fire.
I know many think the team is someone predestined to place a homegrown player at third but realistically does not always have to be the case. Arroyo didn’t look ready.
I’ve mentioned a few times the AL East is and Toronto a a good fit for Cueto. The Yankees are struggling, Tampa is good but not great, Toronto can climb back into the AL WC race with a string 2nd half but they need pitching. They currently trail the Sox, Yanks and Rays in their division in pitching. Cueto can really help there.
They’re not going to trade for Cueto in order to make a WC run and flip Donaldson in the process.
maybe not, but the Jays are in a better position to make the PO than the Giants are at this time. They need pitching and it’s not coming from they farm system so something will have to give.
If they do I’ll have a good laugh. God knows your predictions usually suck. lol
They really do. I’m a know-nothing numbskull who just feels fortunate when you take the time to interact with me.
your welcome, I aim to please
Trouble is baseball has never been thought of as a game that can be mastered when the team is angry or overly driven. A pitcher has NO stuff when he’s pissed off an his ball flattens out. A hitter who over-grips the bat with striations showing in his forearms has no chance of hitting the ball hard.
yeah i guess in your book Bonds and Rose and Ty Cobb and Ted Williams and JR Richards ha bad careers.
Stop over generalizing. You know what I mean. The Giants need some players with drive and fire, not these boy scout type they seem to lean on.
Oh OK – you picked three generational players LOL
Assuming the Giants were interested in Donaldson, I’m not sure what they’d have to offer that the Blue Jays would find appealing. Beede and Arroyo? One of them and Panik? It doesn’t seem to make sense.
Life Topic:
So sorry and sickened that we have reached this point of ambushing police officers as in NYC today. Maybe you have always had it but now more than ever, I pray you can recognize the signs of such danger around you.
You should read The Onion Field. From 20-30 years ago.
Thank you for the thoughts. If someone wanted to randomly walk up to me and shoot me, there might not be a whole lot I could do, but thankfully the odds of something like that happening remain small. My job remains very satisfying and a lot of fun. It’s been especially fun the last couple of weeks and it’s been the least stressful part of my life.
There have always been people who hate the police and there always will be; they just get more play in the media today. But I’m always well aware that the vast majority are good people who have the opposite view. Knowing there are so many good people out there, like yourself, is a big part of why I find my job so satisfying.
You make it sound easy but I guess that is what “calling” is about. You find what you want to do and only want to do and then the joy of that make the unbearable, bearable.
Is there anything that you see that regular citizens can do to reverse this slide into darkness?
The only thing I can think of is to not buy into the false narrative that demonizes the police and not support those who peddle it.
Thanks. There is quite a bit of “demonizing” going on in both directions but with police it has generated this real loss of life. I am hearing very little reporting on the NYC shooting and wonder why. Is it becoming that common place that it is barely news?
Yup… all debate aside. Baseball is entertainment. Your job is real life. We all owe you gratitude that you’re willing to protect us through the everyday risk in an under appreciated job
1. Donaldson’s career numbers are great but the question always remains what do we have to give up to get him? If we were a pennant contender I’d say go for him right now but we’re not so on balance I wouldn’t try to get him.
2. Joe Panik is one of the few steady guys on the team. No way I’d trade him.
3. One never, ever knows if Hunter Pence is back because he hits HRs in bunches and then often disappears for weeks. Pence is also 34 and you seldom hear about guys in their mid-30s going on a tear from that point until end of career.
4. Who knows?
5. I don’t know how much we could get for an injury prone player. Nunez has only had 500+ PA once in his career. His career OPS is only .719 and we don’t need any more slap hitters on an already homer-starved team.
— Just rumors, though it would be nice to add a power bat
— Of course they would trade Joe Panik, if the deal was favorable for them. Personally, I love watching Joe Panik and I hope they don’t trade him, but they’d be silly not to listen to offers
— Hunter Pence is a rare athlete. I respect his heart and hustle. I hope he goes on a two-month tear! But he’s just as likely to either get hurt again or lunge at outside curve balls.
— Blach will last into the 7th, give up 3-4 runs, and earn the W.
— Of course they should. They have other infielders ready to go. Get something for Nunez. Really, just get something. An A-level outfielder with a little speed and a little power, a draft pick, anything but a 30+ washout with other clubs.
Back when Pablo picked Boston, I thought Donaldson would be a perfect fit. Now, not so much. The G’s have lots of infield prospects, need to find the right mix.
Where is it being reported G’s have any interest in JD?
Heck of a ballgame in NY on MLB. 6-6 in the 8th.
… and here we go with Judge up with a chance to win it
Toronto is the best last place team in any division and could make a run. They just need pitching.
Perhaps any of Cueto, Mooore, Sahrk would look enticing to them.
1. No substance except building cost to teams serious about the acquisition. Makes no sense for the Giants.
2. Possibly because Arroyo could be used at 2B in 2018. I would rather the Giants retain Panik.
3. Pence is more in the groove than earlier in 2017 but Hunter has passed his peak and is a complimentary player at best. Possibly the Astros would like Hunter as a 4th OF, PH, and part time DH in return for prospects and salary relief for the Giants?
4. My hope for today is 7 innings and 2 ER and clean fielding and Giants win easily.
5. Depends on what is offered and what salary Nunez might take for an extension to stay as a utility player (maybe 2 years at $5 or $6 million?). I like the aggressiveness and speed provideded by Nunez.
Pence has full no trade clause.
I understand that Pence has a FNT clause but he also has a positive history with HOU and the Astros are by far closer to the brass ring than ever in their history. Pence may be willing to waive the FNT to go back to the post season the next several seasons.
The Astros could use anther quality starter even if a rental such as Cueto and present Pence is also a good fit. The Astros’ farm is loaded compared to the Giants and the Astros have mostly young players at the MLB level.
His wife is a California girl , with of projects in California , so I doubt it .
I am entertained by the Lexy and Hunter youtubes.
I have no idea but one would think that his wife would be supportive of what is best for Hunter’s baseball career and likely their finances for the last several years of his dwindling career.
It would not be heroic to think that the Astros will have a strong presence in the post seasons of 2017 and 2018. Might be a better situation for Pence as a complimentary player on an excellent contending team than a last place and rebuilding team where he was once a star player.
Pence and his wife just opened a comics and coffee store in Houston
http://www.sfgate.com/food/article/Here-s-the-scoop-on-Hunter-Pence-s-new-coffee-and-11174406.php
That is interesting.
My fantasy is for Hunter Pence to go join the greatest Astro team ever (that happens to be in the American League) where he is successful for the remainder of his contract as a 4th OF, DH platoon, PH, and post season veteran.
The Giants are relieved of Hunter’s contract and we don’t have to experience a favorite hero Hunter Pence in his decline while the Giants rebuild. I would probably check the box scores every day still to follow Pence to his retirement.
The Giants would also receive several top shelf prospects from the Astros’ loaded farm.
Todays lineup a Bochy special, he thinks some players can not hit lefties, when the facts say otherwise .
Glad you can read his mind.
Let me ask you: has there ever been a lineup you agreed with? Ever? Once?
And, when you don’t, do you still hope the team wins? Do you hope the “replacements” do well?
Nice post trying to start something, just what I would expect from you !
Is asking questions “starting something”? You’re just an extra angry bird lately…in the midst of the best stretch of the season
I was not in a angry mood, you just made a mountain out of a mole hill over my posts, and I was pointing out facts, some facts are negative but still facts, that’s called being accountable, just posting positive facts would be a false account of this season .
Must be my interpretation combined with your written skills, which tend to make you sound forever pissed
It isn’t, but you seem to think it is.
Thanks for your input
You don’t see the inconsistency?
No.
Actually what Matthew is getting at is that there are regular Together were Giant bloggers who no matter what they write here actually privately want the Giants, not to be confused with “their team” – to finish 569 games out of first place (that total was a joke) Those peeps are easily detected because since 2010 – during early innings of games where the Giants drop behind 5-2 or 7-1 or 6 to 3 – they often post “Game Over” or DFA so and so” – or “Fire Bochy” or “please god just retire already” etc. Where that is significant as of course you know, is that there are either 21 total outs for a home team that finishes ahead in a regular 9 inn game of 27 outs other wise or more in extra innings. All one has to do is “pretend” they are also playing the game or coaching the game and that puts “them” into the same *fox hole* with like-minded people and protects ones integrity of doing the opposite or causing embarrassment. One does not have to have played *THE same game* as the Giants but if one submerges themselves in a total number of watched or listened to games over 20-60 years then that person’s brain won’t allow them to become calloused – vulgar or vile during ones rooting. Another venue is to have grown up watching *at the knee* of their grandpa/ma or dad – who loved baseball and would never let his young son, nephew, niece or daughter – *root the wrong way*.
This is brilliant I think.
I’m going to have my staff look it over more carefully.
BB – Only Bleacher Mom need approve.
I got lost
Who are you quoting?
Relax Peter. I am quoting ALL my mentors of years gone by who taught me the game and shared those quotes with me. Wish you had been there but you’re 40-ish and I am 60-ish so “never the twain shall meet”.
Instigating looser.
lmao
1) What’s with the Josh Donaldson to the Giants rumors?
Something out of nothing.
2) Would the Giants trade Joe Panik?
For the right deal.
3) Is Hunter Pence back?
Until the next injury unfortunately.
4) How will Ty Blach fare against the mashing Tigers?
If Cain can hold his own, Blach should do one better…hopefully.
5) Should the Giants trade Eduardo Nunez?
Yes but for the right asset(s).

I admit when I posted below the lineup was a Bochy special, I thought Belt was off today ,who hits lefties well, so not as bad as it could have been .
Atta babe
Still Gorkys leading off. SMH
Didn’t he hit about .350 for the past month?
I still think Kelby’s a better leadoff hitter. He’s done well on the rare occasions Bochy has put him there. Gorkys has been terrible in that spot. We’ll see.
As long as he identifies pitches way out of the hitting zone and continues to hit the ball hard somewhere – then I am good,
yep I pointed out he was their best hitter for average in the month of June when most guys were calling for outright release
I may have led off the new kid on the block however quite of few of Gorkey’s balls off the bat – were of the hard hit variety. Can’t predict results….only “put a good swing on a good pitch”.
Isn’t this the kind of lineup that got this year off to such a horrendous start?
Andrea the Astrologer – Carmen Kiew and JoBu have already cursed that long ago lineup, no.
Yes.
Belt is finally in a semi-groove, only striking out once or twice per game and hitting the ball very hard and very far at times. Why jerk him around?
Hitting him 2nd is jerking him around?
Man, the way this place freaks out over every lineup is… interesting
Well my post was just a tiny bit facetious . . .
No Hwang Or Slater or Kelby – LOL # NO

This Date in Giants History: July 5, 1987
In a seven-player swap, the Padres trade pitchers Dave Dravecky and Craig Lefferts and outielder Kevin Mitchell to the Giants for third baseman Chris Brown and pitchers Keith Comstock, Mark Davis and Mark Grant…in 1989, Mitchell won the MVP for the Giants, and Davis won the Cy Young Award for the Padres.
I remember that day very well. Mitchell, wearing #9 and with no name on his jersey, hit two HRs vs. the Cubs, leading us to an important win. Dravecky was stellar that year, Lefferts a great bullpen asset as well.
That might be the single best trade in SF Giants history. It led to a NL West title that year and a pennant in 1989 (with Mitchell as MVP)–and one of the great baseball stories ever in Dravecky’s comeback.
I remember Al Rosen saying “we don’t rebuild, we reload.” That trade was a great example. Davis was good for them, Brown and Grant not as much.
thought this happened on July 4 — I read it in the newspaper that morning
http://www.nytimes.com/1987/07/06/sports/giants-and-the-padres-make-7-player-trade.html
Thanks Clutch, so you see that the deal was “completed late Saturday night” — that was the 4th of July.
July 5th me lad, 7/5.
I think the trade happened on July 4 and Mitchell’s first game was July 5.
He hit 2 HRs in his first game, or at least that’s the way I remember it.
Got it now http://articles.latimes.com/1989-05-24/sports/sp-695_1_kevin-mitchell-finds-happiness-san-diego-giants-change
Beauty and I were camping with my parents that day. I cooked steaks in a cast iron skillet over a campfire with just salt and pepper and olive oil. My mom had a tendency to make steaks end up like Red Wing work boots, so Pops was forever grateful. Then the shiny silver tooth of Mitchell did his thing as we listened to the game on the radio. Good times.
And to think that Mitch was smack dab in the thick of things in 1986 when he and Gary Carter singled in the infamous ball game that had the ball roll under Buckner from Mookie Wilson with Vin on the call https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18caPNisP2U

Hello, TWG! Mrs. TF and I are in Asheville, NC for a little three-day getaway. We lived here for seven years prior to moving to Atlanta, so it’s a bit like old home week. It’s been almost 19 years we’ve been gone, so lots of changes. Counter culture big here; it was when we left, more so now.
Good news for me: LOTS of microbreweries to sample and purchase from, and…one of Sierra Nevada’s two major breweries is here!
“Umm, yes–could I try that pale ale again please?”
I’ll follow the games as best I can, but I know y’all will keep me in the know. Go Giants!
I’m in Chico, home of Sierra Nevada. Try the Bigfoot Stout if you dare. Enjoy!
That NC brewery is supposed to be a sustainable marvel. Might have a LEED cert. The beer might be the least interesting part.
Downtown Chico = Cozy Diner. YUM.
Best place to take 18 kid roster to (with stinky socks) for grub
Recruit Jose Flores

Good afternoon TWG gang. Been off the site for a few days enjoying this past 4th of July extended weekend. Hope you all had a safe weekend/holiday and enjoyed the fireworks in your neck of the woods.
Myself and Mrs. Crawnik enjoyed a fabulous Sunday. Left our 2006 Honda Accord at home to save some wear and tear and rented a Chrysler 300 for our day trip. First stop was lunch at Half Moon Bay Brewing Co. for some Jumbo Shrimp tacos and a cheesy crab bowl. Washed it down with a Saison beer. Very good food. Bought a t-shirt there as well. Black tee with 3 surfboards outlined in…orange of course.
Second stop was to the Giants Dugout Store at AT&T Park and used my gift card I got for Father’s Day. Bought some new hats and another shirt; because you can’t have enough Giants shirts, right?
Finally, our trip took us over the GG Bridge ( wind was blowing hard and fog rolled in), and drove up to Geyserville to River Rock Casino, where after playing two slot machines, we won $500. Not bad for a days work. Had a nice dinner there. Played about $100 of our winnings before heading home. Giants swept the Pirates and we won money. I’d say that’s a win-win for the Crawniks.
Nice job Crawniks!
Right place at the right time, I suppose.
We need to shake Mrs Crawnik’s hand and rub the top of your head.
Or vice-versa.
Like a sweet Crawford to Panik double play
You know it.
Why go all the way to River Rock when there is a much nicer and nearer casino in Rohnert Park?
Why tempt $500 fate??
We’ve been there and it’s just out of control crowd wise.
Isn’t Half Moon Bat Brewing in that old smugglers din/whorehouse from the 1920-30’s?
Not sure about that. Didn’t read any history behind it.
Lock your doors. It sounds like you’ve given Surf Maui some ideas about where he’ll get his next “lucky shirt”.
Here it is! https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/cb17c03762d24a6fd0dab3edcf5e6c64dbdcaaee3a141118d7b7923f6828d989.jpg
That’s pretty good!
All things Gians San Jose Merc http://www.mercurynews.com/sports/san-francisco-giants/
I know we have the collective yips this season, but why the pregame lineup doom? Aren’t you excited to see a ball game?
We’re all worried about Melvin.
Bob?
Hall?
Stottlemyre?
This is how #1 spent his 4th ( before linking videos of shooting fireworks from the deck…) https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/4ac82051b79214392d3ceebc32dd2c87df96c38e11f15b777e36ab864d976e01.jpg
This is awesome. Alex is interviewing Aramis Garcia about the chance to catch Madison Bumgarner tonight. Let’s just say Aramis is pretty stoked.
BTW, if you’re been worried about the imminent arrival of Melvin Upton Jr., you can exhale. He played one game for Sacramento and is injured again–different injury.
MyGorkys is SAFE!
You just broke Surf Mauis heart .
Who is trying to “start something”? I lost track
Fact, he likes veterans , and is not into prospects, so was looking forward to Melvin Upton Jr playing for the Giants .
You don’t see the irony here, I guess
He CAN’T see irony.
We all are. Big happy dysfunctional family, and we all know how to push each other’s buttons.
To quote one of our finest blog contributors….FACT!
Who needs Bossman Jr. when you have Gorkys?
Speaking of Upton. Nice resurgence by Justin this season. I suppose he is on the trade block and his deal is similar to Cueto’s.
very nice Hwang..
DP nicely predicted by Johnson
Hwang and Slater have been nice productive adds from the minors so far. Hwang has made some nice plays at third.
Gorkys!
It is had to fathom how the second baseman could ever beat Gorkys to first with where he was playing. It is basically a foot race in which Gorkys wins easily
MLB Trade Rumors recently tweeted an article about possible 1B candidates for the Yankees. Brandon Belt was on the list under “Controllable”.
Brandon Belt, Giants (signed through 2021): Belt is in the first season of a five-year, $72.8MM contract, which is an eminently reasonable deal when you consider what the 29-year-old has accomplished during his career. Nevertheless, the last-place Giants might listen to offers for Belt, who has been one of their few bright spots this season. While Belt’s numbers have taken steps backward this year, he has still put up an attractive .235/.343/.464 line with 16 long balls in 353 trips to the plate. Considering Belt’s track record and affordable contract, San Francisco should be able to acquire a solid prospect haul if it actually does move him. Whether the Yankees would be willing to part with multiple quality prospects for a first baseman is unclear, but the idea of Belt going from a ballpark that suppresses left-handed power to one that accentuates it is intriguing.
Come on Evans, at least answer the phone and have a thoughtful dialog.
He actually might be their best trade chip not named Bumgarner.
lucky.
Nice hit Hwang
was lucky the pitch before was not called strike 3.
Very lucky
a good break once in awhile mixed in with the bad breaks
Brian Johnson sure likes to talk, doesn’t he?
yes he does.
He’s knowledgeable but I don’t know if I could stand his voice for more then a few games.
He seemed quiet yesterday. Wonder if they told him to be more chatty.
Slater, KT, Gorkys and Hwang are the hottest hitters on the team so far today. Youth movement getting it done. Wish Kelby would hustle a little more on ground balls tho.
Yeah. He nonchalantly threw that ball to first.
Why Al Kaline Field? Cobb or Greenberg. Kinda overrated superstar to me. Rep better than his actual.
You know why “no Cobb”….
Hmmm….racist?
yep.
Just thinking about it in a vacuum
Nice insurance run. Good job Belt
Great piece of hitting BB9. Hitters count, took advantage.
Atta babe HP.
The Reverend with the 3 bagger!!!
He’s moving really well.
‘Cause it’s warm, humid and good on the hammies.
Brian Johnson has a bit of a “banana in the tailpipe” quality to his voice
Nice “Beverly Hills Cop” knowledge.
We’re just looking for anyone who will show up for all 7 months of this job.
Happy slappy Wednesday!
Unpopular post of the night:
I MUCH prefer the way Gorkys tracks fly balls in center field…GH Smoove
His arm is a plus. Not knocking Span, but that last fly ball is a possible tag from first. Most likely not, but you never know.
I’m equal opportunity when it comes to Span and Gorkys in CF: I can’t stand either one of them out there. They give me the heebie-jeebies.
I must admit that our OF has been….concerning. But it sure feels much better lately…on both sides of the ball.
Gorkys is the Jim Tomsula of center fielders, but without the flatulence, at least as far as I know.
As soon as I read Jim Tomsula I was going to say without the ‘leather chair’ but you beat me to it. lol.
Second most unpopular post of the night. It’s amazing how much smarter that Bochy has gotten over the last 8 games.
I don’t think he’s any smarter or any less smart.
It was sarcasm
So was mine.
As any comment about Bochy getting smarter had to be.
True! After 3 titles in those 5 years, it would be tough to get any smarter than that!
Casilla pitching to Lamb must have been a level of genius not discernable by normal men, kind of like a dog whistle.
OK, wait, stay with me here… “3 titles in THOSE 5 years”…. …”it would be tough to be smarter than that”.
Bochy kept starting Aaron Hill until 5 minutes before security escorted Hill from the building. He hasn’t gotten one bit smarter.
Not about brains … it’s about a very odd and inflexible perspective on baseball offense.
Gorkys can go get it. You said earlier in the season–he’s best when playing CF.
He has -8 defensive runs saved in 201 innings in CF. That’s really, really terrible.
Very nice Ty. 2 hits allowed thru 4. Keep piling on boys.
Hundley with the fake out to Bochy.
I was thinking that Ty might be pitching for his rotation spot tonight. He’s not likely to get another start before Bum comes back. If he and Cain were both equally desultory, I could see the team giving the excuse that they need a good lefty in the bullpen (they do), and bump Blach again. But now I don’t see it.
FWIW, Schulman was talking about Cain’s start yesterday with great nostalgia, as if he knows it’s a done deal that Cain will be out of the rotation soon. If they trade Cueto, though, Cain’s right back in (or Blach, if it goes that way).
I have a hard time with any scenario where Cain stays in the rotation no matter who gets traded or sent down. Cain has had 5 consecutive years with a less than .500 record and 3 consecutive with an ERA in the high 5’s. Blach is our ONLY shutout of the year and when he’s on, he’s really good. He’s not overpowering but he’s proven that he should stay.
I heard Giants insider Alex Pavlovic interviewed before the San Jose game tonight talking about when Bum comes back the odd man out is going to be Moore or Cain, depending on those two next starts. Don’t see Blach leaving at all. But I also thought he was going to be the #5 coming out of ST.
You missed Laskey saying Blach is probably going to the bullpen, but he is a Cain die hard .
I did miss that.
I think sending Blach to the pen would be a terrible move. He doesn’t have reliever type gas. He’s a pitch-to-contact, control pitcher. Laskey’s loyalties are misplaced as Cain hasn’t been above .500 since 2012. We all have to turn the page.
Aaargghhhhh
Facebook live with NBC Sports Bay Area now, they are saying the same thing, , Estes, Alex both .
I can definitely see Moore going to the ‘pen.
He’s earning it tonight. 5-0, Giants–bring it home, TWG!
Atta babe Gorkys.
Hwang wow!
Highlight reel.
I remember being one of the few advocates for Hwang’s promotion in April. Good to see him pan out in the MLB. It’s not a coincidence that the team is suddenly playing better defense, and getting clutch hits with him playing.
I really liked him when we saw him in Scottsdale. I was hoping he’d make the team out of camp. He’s got a shot now, with Nunez injured and maybe traded soon and Arroyo out indefinitely.
Didn’t think he would be this good with the glove but .335/.394/.570 slash line with 27HR 113 RBIs over a full season in the KBO had to translate to the majors somewhat. He’s been contributing without an adjustment period in the majors which is uncommon for players coming over from Asian countries, and has been better than advertised with the glove.
I think it’s fair to wonder how much better the Giants would be in the standings if they started the season with this group of players instead of guys like Marrero, Hill, and Neil Ramirez
I thought he and Tomlinson were the obvious roster members
My Guy too 😀
Your phone book is thick, though
If anyone would like a free Giants block print that I have made, send an email to kevinahnart at G Mel Ott .com. Send a name and mailing address and I will send a print your way soon. It features two of the most popular Giants from the last 10 years.
Awesome. When you’ve shared your work, I’ve been totally impressed
Death by Bloop
Someone explain to me again what a great asset Kontos is. He let Cain’s runners score yesterday and just gave up a hit to the only guy he faced, moving Blach’s runner into scoring position. He’s also given up 5 HRs in half a season.
I truly don’t get the fondness for him. I just don’t.
It was a broken bat bloop single.
As for “fondness”… I think it’s more that he has a level of respect for being pretty darn good for several seasons. He obviously has bad streaks… which is SO rare on this amazing staff.
But, I swear, you literally ignore all of his good performances.
You’re probably right. Just like Belt haters who swear he never, ever, ever has a clutch hit. We all have our blind spots, I guess.
I have too, ever since the A-Rod GS and the 1-0 Opening Day 2013 loss because Kershaw hit one of his non-sliders out. I never feel good when Kontos comes into a game! 🙁
Yep, I was at the A-Rod game in Yankee Stadium. It’s been hard to erase that memory.
Right … they’re essentially interchangeable, which makes the constant pitching changes even sillier. Whoever is in, the next game isn’t likely to be better … or worse
Just caught a bad break with the shift yesterday, and broken bat bloop single today. He’s been better than his pitching line indicates.
Someone should ask Bochy that.
Come on Okert
Today a question got answered before I asked it. Regarding a meeting Monday, someone asked if there would be a TV because the homerun hitting contest would be on. I really didn’t know anyone, especially baseball people, watched it. Hard to think of a broadcast sports event that is more tedious this side of professional bowling or pulling.
I went to the home run contest in 2011 and it was more boring in person then on TV.
This is why there was so much talk of Bumgarner being in last year’s.
Come on Gearrin. This is your inning until the next left handed batter
“Contradictions on Gearrin’s game”
DRAMA! 🎭
He’s pitching like Shaq taking free throws
That’s a really good analogy.
Gotta throw strikes to record outs
We do have other pitchers, right?
An eight-man bullpen, yes.
Well, you know what I mean.
AUUUUUUGGHHHHH, make it stop!
He threw one strike … the guy didnt bite .. what do you want?
Crick will save the day
Under my commissionership, 3 pitchers would be the maximum in any one inning. Manage accordingly
Injury exception?
Yes, but to guard against faking it, they have to go on the DL
Not bad. Draconian, but not bad.
Is it? The managing has gotten silly … so rational is draconian. These big bullpens are bad for the game, and if management doesn’t know it, fix it for them
Unlimited position players can pitch though, right?
The Mooooooose Pirates Rule
Nope. Trying to cut pitching changes, most of which are meaningless
Like your suggestion.
Right, with more only allowed if a certain (large) number of hitters come to the plate.
Nope. Manage accordingly.
There is also a notion that the RP should be required to face two batters.
I like that, too.
What about your Bunt Like A Mutha rule?
I get some bad press on that
The truth is bad press now?
That…is so 2017.
Or October 2016.
Bruce : ” it hurts like hell, Cory. Understood??”
The possibility of Upton and Miggy coming up in this inning scares me
The Division hangs in the balance! The season could be lost! OMG
Oh no, no more high draft picks! There goes out shot to contend next year!
This franchise is toast until 2021!
This Brian Johnson sure has the compulsion to fill the void with chatter. Hey batter batter…
Wonder what he’ll bring to the third game? He was sort of low key yesterday, opened it up today, so my guess tomorrow is a high speed train.
Bagels and doughnuts, probably
Never shuts up.
HE PAINTS LIKE RENOIR!!!!
or Pollock
I was thinking Edvard Munch. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/d27db660d14eb06db1b9cd15fd7b1ffe5b16a86b424dfd539a21938690c7a7fc.jpg
Blach has that, make it stop look on his face.
Me too!
Gearrin pretty nasty. Gotta figure Evans takes calls
Both of Gearrin’s inherited runners scored, but his ERA feels fine, thanks so much for asking. (Some bad luck on Kinsler’s ball, though.)
Excruciating
That was a stressful B7.
This is like every HGTV show ever….
1) cruising along
2) unseen issues! That sub plumber and the HVAC guy screwed up the vents!
3) solved!
4) (I’m counting on) mai tai’s on the veranda with forced conversation. Roll credits
I miss mai tais. Hawaii was so great. Sighhhhhh
New convert to caiparinhas, if you’re looking for a replacement
The truth is that I don’t love mai tais, though Mr. Lefty tried a number of different ones. Rum doesn’t usually sit well with me. I drank a lot of Moscow Mule variations.
I bet you had to look up that word didn’t you Mai Tai the spelling I mean
She looked it up on the menu card on the deck
Everyone’s so nice when the Giants are leading
I left Sacramento for Woodland just got to Woodland and Giants finally get three outs
Wave when you go by. Or stop by. I have homemade pulled pork and potato salad!
That pulled pork sounds good but I think I’ll have a big spoon full of potato salad do you have any eggs inside of that potato salad boiled eggs?
Of course it has hard-boiled eggs!
Just checking just checking LOL
I have an Instant Pot (electric pressure cooker), and you cook the potatoes and eggs together, just four minutes after it comes to pressure. Both the potatoes and eggs were perfectly done, and the eggs peel easily. I usually just buy potato salad at Safeway, but this was so easy it was fun to make!
I’m sure it is delicious knowing you
I’ll damn near do anything for potato salad
It took your gramps a full season to go that far in his covered wagon
Nice
And y’all were annoyed by Affeldt….
Solid AB by Slater
Crawford wow, his OB% .266, it is .51 lower than Gorkys’ OB% .
Their wRC+ is almost the same. Yowza.
If that was Belt, this place would be going crazy….
Rookie mistake. He gets some of those.
Yeah…he’s only been playing baseball for a year….
Be nice to Brandon Belt Matthew you’re always mean to him 🙂
Suppose Belt is traded somewhere, Yankees perhaps, before the end of this month. What is the over/under on this blog continuing to post blasting/loving Brandon Belt stuff? I say five years.
If he’s traded to the Yankees, he’ll hit 30+ home runs, and we’ll have Adam Duvall type conversations. Also, every time the new 1B doesn’t scoop one of Crawford’s throws or can’t run down a pop-up, we’ll say “Belt woulda…”
OVER. And over and over and over
I actually don’t mind the double play there. Allows the team to start next inning from the top of the order.
Alright Strick, earn your stripes bud.
Hopefully there are scouts there for when they trade him.
Nobody’s trading Strickland.
We’ll see. He’s actually a valuable trade chip at this point.
Kelbster!
Nunez drops that ball or lets it slip through his legs in this situation.
Hwang just looks right in Giants uniform at 3b.
I know he played some 1B in Sacramento. Wonder how he does there.
You trying to get rid of Belt again, ha,ha, right Ryan .
I didn’t get the impression that LF was good at all, but he’s been really good at 3B in these first few days. I know why you are asking about 1B, since it feels like they have to find a spot for both Hwang and Boyo.
That’s why I (sadly) have to admit they might finally trade Belt this year. With Hwang, Jones, and Shaw in the mix, they actually have alternatives for 1B if they trade Belt. I’m bracing myself because I really do like the guy and will miss him if he’s gone.
Belt is now earning the big bucks, and they’ve made some real mistakes with the pitcher salaries.
Those big bucks are why he will not be traded, owed 70 Million dollars, in the easiest position to fill on the field, if not for that contract he would be gone .
fair enough, it limits trades to teams that are moneybags.
I don’t think they are nearly as ready to say those guys are remotely ready for MLB every day. Hwang looks great. I get it….
Belt is an All Star. These guys aren’t Foothills Front Office Trade Trigger types
If the Giants were in contention, there’s no way they trade their HR/RBI leader who’s playing Gold Glove defense. But they’re not. They have time to let one of the young guys develop on the job. And if someone offers them a great prospect package for Belt and they get salary relief…well, I can’t rule it out.
But, where have you seen them mention “salary relief”? Where has it been mentioned they are trading a key guy? They aren’t…WE are. It ain’t happ’nin
I just have a feeling. Not about Belt in particular. But I think they’re going to shake some things up.
I think it will be Nunez and/or Cueto with the chance they come right back…backroom convos
Come right back? I thought you lived in Modesto, not fantasyland?
Nice going.
Where’s the blog Bow Hunter love?!?!?!?!
Together We’re Selective
If that means that my memory still includes the team playing with 24 players for 6 games because he’s a meathead, then yeah, I’m selective.
Together We’re Forgivers!
You know, I still feel a little guilty about being so happy when Aaron Hill was released – part of me knows it is pretty sad when a MLB career is over. Maybe not my most human moment.
Seems we’ve had quite a few of those this year.
I want him to do well so he can get traded to Texas!
Have yet to recover from the unnecessary
6 games suspension.
Hwang lead the Cats with 11 errors. Maybe some were in LF??
6 at 3B, 5 at 1B, 0 in LF. But they don’t charge errors in the outfield when you don’t actually touch the ball.
Nope, hardly played LF.
MyEffinGuy
Gork with 3 hits today
Too bad he got off to a slow start.
Gorkslappin’ like a mofo tonight!!!!
Gorkys and Belt both .236
Gorkys “George Jefferson” Hernandez is Movin’ On Up!
He just gaining on everybody. Trains passing in the night.
Buster’s done close to nothing as the DH in this series. Sorry, it’s the truth
Patience, Grasshopper. It ain’t magic
Not his bag of soup.
Awfully tough luck yesterday. He’s had no results, but I wouldn’t say he’s done nothing. That was classic bad Pence though … any reason in the world to swing at a first pitch curve ball?
Impatience. You could see the frustration on his face as he entered the dugout.
Ok Dyson, keep it simple.
First time pairing up with Hundley
good point.
Facing an AL Central lineup. I’m worried they know him
Yessss!
1,2,3. Let’s go Dyson.
Detroit owes Cabrerra 184m after this year? Crazy.
Atta-babe, Hwang. Smooth as silk.
Wasn’t the word by Giants management that Wang needs to work on his defense?
And Slater wasn’t ready.
And, Panik, and, so on, and so on !
Sandoval was a catcher
Yes. MLB infields are better-groomed than in the PCL?
When he was sent down at the end of camp, they told him he needed time to get used to the speed of the American game. Maybe those half dozen AAA 3B errors were pretty early on? And I’m guessing our strike zone is a bit different. Cross fingers, but Hwang looks like he’s going to be a solid player for us.
Again, the more I see him the more I like him. Kid’s a ballplayer. Every team needs guys like that.
He’s not a kid. He’s turning 30 on July 28th.
Easy. I’m sure tf62 didn’t mean any disrespect, but that he’s much older than Hwang and sees all the players as kids.
He probably just didn’t realize how old Hwang is.
Wrong. I know how old he is. What LB said…
Exactly.
Nuñez who?
I love Hwang. Can’t believe he was knocked around for his defense. It actually looks like his strongest asset
I wish I could find out who knocked him for his defense
11 errors in the minors is a bit head-scratching
He’s seizing his moment. Everyone who watched him said he struggled down there
all Asian players talk about the speed of the overall game being the biggest thing. That takes time, even for a guy who is a vet like him.
Nothings ever a guarantee.
Oh, so all Asians say the same thing?
A couple of people here went to see the Sacramento team, and said he was shaky. I think it was more nerves, than anything, since he was a solid defender in South Korea. He just needed some confidence from the Giants.
Careful….
…. ?
Juvenile joke. Never mind
His KBO highlight reel included plenty of web gems.
i guess it does no good to point out that he has been in the big leagues for a week. But here’s hoping
Some happy kid just homered off of Bumgarner.
Focus, sad sack.
Focus on what? Do you even know what you’re talking about?
Your momentum sucks
Some happy poster decided that was good timing
I was watching Bumgarner pitch, not the Giants game. But I am a happy poster. You’re the emotional one. Remember your classic “Fuck! Stop!” ?
no, but you do.
Dodger farmhand I’ve never heard of but his 16th long ball
Bochy’s Lineup Genius Victory Tour!!!!!!
That .236 1-2 punch at the top of the lineup!
I mean, one of those has a nice OBP, so…
Ballgame. Well done Dyson, Hwang, Belt, Gorkys, Pence, etc.
Atta babe Dyson. Melancon who?
I think Dyson has ironed out his problems obviously I don’t know if I would go with Melanson again
I think Mark Gardner got with Sam and figured out some things
Rangers feel stupid and Evans had a stroke of luck.
BoEv needed a win BAD.
as stupid as the Giants feel about Duvall? Doubtful
Maybe if Dyson saves 40 in SF year
lol this team may not win 70 games, how the hell does a closer get 40 saves?
Bad teams get just as many 1 run games as other teams.
Dyson keeping it clean. As much as the Giants got ripped off on Melancon, they got a steal in The Vacuum.
a huge steal, provided this keeps up. I like the 1,2,3 inning thing in the 9th! Maybe we should teach it to some others in the BP.
Pound the zone with that sinker, good things happen.
That was impressive.
Wait until he gives up a game winning bleeder!
I love corn!
I won’t agree on the ripoff until I see Melancon pitching completely healthy. I don’t think he has been at any moment this season! 🙁
Melancon will be fine once he’s healthy. This injury might turn into TJ, but if he’s fully recovered and healthy he’ll contribute.
Dyson was a huge get, and we have Smith coming back next year.
Wow, I went away from the game after the 6th. That’ll teach me. We turned a rout into a nail biter. Dyson sure appears to be performing like a closer.
Said it before but Our bullpen next year is gonna be lights out!!
Yes if you get rid of most of them we will be lights out
Miller and Johnson look like a NutriSystems before and after picture
I reckon everybody likes Johnson, but I don’t. He never stops talking, and is an unrepentant homer. “We” all day long. I know he’s a Giants scout, so he gets to say that – but it’s over the top in the booth.
Many years ago they had Willie Mays in the booth and a guy got caught stealing and said, “Damn!”
Yup. Gotta admit that ‘now he’s pissed off’ jolted me.
Another time, back in the dark days of 2005-2007, Mays was guest in booth, talking with K&K, opposing team’s hitter drives one into the gap, Willie says “oh, shit”. Kuip: “well, that’ll score two”…
Com’on Arizona. Beat LA.
Go Dbacks. Pollock is back.
Need to gain a game a week and take the remaining games we have against the Dodgers. Then we got this thing.
You like almonds?
Absolutely.
Your wins leaders at the midway point are Blach and Johnny
Foreplay is always better after a Giants victory LOL
TMI
Says the woman with her pants d…never mind!
GRAND SLAM!
Not my problem that you assume not wearing pants has to be a sexual thing.
Naw doubt it its better then cursing and calling each other names just hvng fun dont take things to literally and move on . Life’s short just read it and keep on moving no need to comment on every single thing you disagree with
Who knew 3 letters would get such a response?
Ty Blach is not the pitcher out of the pen that he is as a starter. He’s the Ace on the staff. Why would they put him into the pen.
They won’t. Laskey’s heartstrings are tugging towards Cain.
The Horse has done a lot for the organization but, alas, the fans deserve more production. Laskey’s loyalty is understandable but not really accurate.
Laskey probably bitches about millennials and avocado toast on a regular basis.
I’m a “millenial” and I bitch about avocado toast and No Pants Day on BART..
I thought Kruk was the unreasonable homer.
So Hwang wasn’t brought up sooner because of “concerns with his defense”. Nothing about his defense has looked concerning. How can I expect the Giants to have scouted other teams’ prospects for a trade, when it looks like they often don’t know the abilities of their own?
This reign has a long history of telling us guys aren’t ready.
🏆🏆🏆👍🏻
True!!!
Hwang, Tomlinson, Slater, Blach not in the rotation at first. Every decision they made out of spring training was wrong. It doesn’t inspire much confidence.
Tomlinson brings a speed element that the team badly needs. I’ve never understood why he keeps getting sent down. He has nearly 400 PA in a few years with the G’s with a .290 average. Maybe the rap on him is that he’s a singles hitter but with his speed they become doubles fast.
My guess is they thought he was shaky defensively, so others kept being ranked ahead of Tomlinson until they all played themselves out of the picture!
He’s really not, though. He’s a perfectly competent fielder at several different positions. He’s not Crawford or Panik, but that’s why he’s a bench player.
He has improved a lot. He WAS horrendous when he came up a couple years ago…and I was there to witness too much of it
I remember–the series in Wrigley, just a day or two after KT was called up for the first time–not surprising he’d have some jitters; I remember Panik and Duffy with the same when they started. But then he went on to play regularly at 2B for the rest of the season due to Panik’s back injury, and my recollection is that he got better every week that went by, as young infielders seem wont to do under the tutelage of Prof. Wotus.
It’s also my eye-test observation (from Sacramento) that KT’s true strengths are on the left side (SS/3B). But he’s a good athlete and has even briefly pulled off LF (with the Giants) and CF (with the R’Cats) without embarrassing himself. In short–an above-average utility player, all-around, in the truest sense of the word.
Nunez almost always looks shaky to me on defense.
Ah, but he’s the reliable veteran they traded for, so he automatically gets a longer leash in Bochyland!
ok easy there, he’s not Billy Hamilton or the 2nd coming of Ricky Henderson.
If Kelby was a starter would he even get 30-40 steals a year? You make it sound as if he’s gonna steal 100 / season.
Where in my post do I compare him to Ricky Freaking Henderson? Where do I imply that he’s going to get 100 steals? I merely stated that he has a high MLB BA and he’s fast. That’s all I said. Everything YOU claim that I said is 100% fictional b.s..
He can score from first on a double unlike some Giants.
He can, indeed. However, since Joe Panik appears to be permanently installed at 2B, we need to do with Tomlinson what we did with Belt i.e., train him at an OF position. I suspect that he could get to a lot of balls that are unreachable by our current OF’ers.
So you want to replace who in the OF for a light hitting .257 Tomlinson who basically hits singles
Good question. Not sure I have an answer. Gorkys is having himself a good several weeks but he could flame out at any time. After all, he was at Aaron Hill type numbers and has had to go on a tear to get to .236. I think Tomlinson could at least be platooned to give Slater, Span, or Pence a day off. He’s too good a hitter to send down. We need at least one good bench guy.
I hated the idea that they had to put in Hill at the start because they were paying him more and a vet, but I think it benefited Hwang who adjusted well to playing MLB baseball. I think he should have been called up a few weeks earlier though.
I believe Hill’s 2 mil salary was conditional on him making the roster…which is even more maddening. He made the roster because Bochy remembered him playin some tough games in AZ 5 years before.
agreed — so is this a bobby evans fail or ????
It’s a team effort. Evans, Bochy, Sabean had input, coaches acquiesce to what Bochy thinks…how about we just let the players performance dictate who’s on the 25-man? Seems like that’s happening now.
The Giants are playing inspired baseball. I expect them to compete all year long.
Hank thinks they’re out of it already. Keep the faith.
Playing good baseball and winning games is all they can do. They have played so much better since that Ken Rosenthal column. #rallymouseturds
He’s barking at umps! He’s ready!!!!
Shawn on a mound, yum. That was fun. Ahmed, you’re okay too. I saw him on BART once, but I was too shy to say HEYYYYYY buddy!
You are so funny. Love it!
thanks, good sir!
Shawn flopping off 2nd base like Billy Bass at Walgreen’s…Barf
The Astros have a 19 game lead. Is that the biggest lead ever before All star break?
Nah, the ’75 Reds finished with a 20+ game lead on the rest of the NL West!
At the break, though???
That’s a good question, as I remember the Dodgers (ugh!) hanging with them for awhile!
Thirty games over .500 in barely half a season is quite the accomplishment. By the way, the ‘Stros “only” have a 16 game lead.
…
Mariners had a 19 game lead at the AS break in 2001.
Then they didn’t make it past the first round of the postseason after a record-setting 116 wins. Baseball is weird!
Somebody posted a video of TajMo a couple days ago (sorry, I can’t remember who… Matthew?), tonight there was a story on them on PBS Newshour. Here’s the video, audio and transcript of the the story:
Blues greats Taj Mahal and Keb’ Mo’ team up to make some joyful noise
July 5, 2017 at 6:20 PM EDT
http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/blues-greats-taj-mahal-keb-mo-team-make-joyful-noise/
It WAS…thanks for the shout. I’ve been playing the vinyl at wake up and bedtime, and doing my best to learn Don’t Leave Me Here. GREAT album
I loved that video. Taj Mahal I knew, but Keb Mo is new to me. Gotta get me some of that! Great sounds.
His first major solo release back in about ’98 or so was magical. He’s been good forever.
Also, his appearance on Live From Darryl’s House (on demand on MTV2) was a great window into him. Funny enough, I believe he’s a South Carolina guy!
I’ll check that out, and buy this album. That video you posted hooked me.
Nice. I love my PBS and I try to support that and public radio.
It was stevie? Mateo??
3 views of Hwang’s great pick and throw tonight:
http://m.mlb.com/video/v1576374883/sfdet-hwang-makes-slick-diving-play-at-third/?game_pk=491375
That was a murderous hop, too!! Thanks for the link.
Given tonight’s San Jose performance, I predict the TO Trade Machine is about to have its Huffy 2 Cycle engine fired up, smoke and all.
MadBum: 4 IP, 9 hits, 9 runs, 4 HRs Egads.
That’s Twins first-inning ghastly from a few years ago! Bum followed that up with a dominating start, so I’m hoping for positive improvement next time out!
He was probably just throwing fastballs. Ain’t no thang
Atta Scout. Just getting in work.
Yup, just getting in work to get him back into shape. The important test will be tomorrow when they make sure that injured shoulder feels good. But after 4 taters, they may want to make sure he didn’t injure his neck.
They instructed him not to look.
He’s ready. Bring him up!
I’m sure his trade value has never been higher than right now.
Just the opposite, the way he pitched tonight, he is not worth a bag of baseballs, the Oracle is probably mad he hurt his trade vale .
I was joking, of course.
Don’t ever apologize for PJ not getting it.
Atta babe Blanco.
Nice. Dogs & Dbacks on the network. Pitchers duel. Wood has been something.
he’s quietly been one of the best pitcher pick ups in all baseball. He’s making 2,800,000 which is nothing for 9-0.
Guys like Cain should be ashamed to show face on the field with guys like that.
Godley has been pretty good too
https://www.si.com/mlb/2017/06/19/craig-kimbrel-boston-red-sox-closer
Let’s see who was it on the blog that kept telling me Melancon was sooooo much better than Kimbrel?
LOL
TWG down again?
New Post: http://fe0.84e.myftpupload.com/2017-season/dodgers-hearing-footsteps-as-giants-win-again-beat-tigers-5-4-to-remain-only-23-games-back/
