This game was over after the first inning. Matt Moore is back in the mix for a rotation spot with Sacramento. He gave up 13 thousand hits in the first three innings. The score should have been 12-1 Marlins.
Matthew nicknamed him “Little Unit”. Ouch!
Breckeroni told me it felt like 23,000 hits.
Slater (right groin strain) on 10-day DL; Williamson recalled from Sac.
Why do they bother with this 10-day bs? We’ll be lucky if we see him in Sept.
The choice is 10, meaning 10+, or else 60 days, meaning 60+. The latter lets you replace the injured player’s 40-man roster spot, but you are sure to be w/o that player for a very long time. You can always transfer someone from 10 to 60 day list, by the way.
Concussion has a 7+ day list now.
That makes sense – I thought there was a 15-day option but that’s gone. Thx for the clarification!
I’m just reading it used to be 21, then 15 until this year, now 10. 21 was a long time!
To keep the guys in AAA and AA motivated? “You could be called up in 10 days!”
So, will Peter apologize to me? Prolly not.
Sorry!
Was that sincere?
Yes, I thought it was a hip issue .
We cool!
That was quite a Boogaloo move Slater had going for him when he pulled up lame.
Today’s WTF sports news:
“Marinvich is less than a year removed from an arrest after he was found naked in an Irvine backyard with drugs.” (He’s 48 years old!)

Damn I hate waiting around for the game to start.
Stuff I scrounged off the web, two different places.
Jarrett Parker broke his right clavicle on April 15 vs. Colorado after catching a DJ LeMahieu line drive and crashing into the left field wall…started a rehab assignment on June 19 at triple-A and is 10-for-48 (.208) with 14 runs scored, three doubles, a home run, three RBI and 10 walks in 14 games.
A club may send a player on the DL to the minor leagues for a rehab
assignment lasting a maximum of 20 days for position players and 30 days
for pitchers.
So I’m really surprised Mac is called up, he has an option left and could be assigned to Sacramento, but Parker is real close to hitting the 20 day limit, has no option left, and I beleive must be activated or released.
I like Parker, he’s an easy guy to root for. But IMO he’ll never stick in the bigs. Too many holes in his swing and does not make enough contact. I wish him the best but he’s not a part of this team’s future and should be released to see if he can catch on elsewhere.
So Mac it is with Gorkys batting 8th in LF.
Really? It’s Mac. I suppose he deserves another chance. He just couldn’t get up for AAA after seeing the big lights in SF.
He has options. Parker doesn’t. Seems like a big message
I honestly have no idea what to do about Moore. I didn’t see this coming under the worst of the worst case scenarios. He’s LAST in the league in both ERA and WHIP. That is impressively awful, he’s literally the worst pitcher in the league. But the Giants have to see if they can salvage his career for next year and (possibly) going forward. This season as a whole has been as abominable as Moore’s performance. So, I think they should keep running him out there to see if they can get him right for the future. Nothing to lose at this point.
Well, you need to come up with something. Everyone is depending on you!
When did you start laying off this responsibility to others? Man up.
I mean Moooooooooose Up.
I’m learning to delegate!
I’m disappointed in NO 5 questions 🙂

Baer’s being shaken down by several of the Giants broadcasters who are taking days off and calling it ‘on assignment’.

“Un-Moored” is awfully clever, GG.
I looked up “unmoored” on M-W. The first example of unmoored in a sentence comes from baseball:
“Three World Series victories in 13 years unmoored a lot of the tension and angst that centered the Red Sox narrative for decades.” — Christopher Borrelli, Chicago Tribune, May 1, 2017.
I was thinking of the Crusaders from more ancient times as well. And then there’s the modern Crusaders. I have been to Spain and visited some of the marvelous civilization of the Moors.
By the way, did you feel that western Montana quake? Thought of you guys up there. And nice to see you in print 🙂
The 5.8-magnitude earthquake is the biggest earthquake I’ve ever experienced. It was 12:30 am. We had returned earlier that evening from the cabin. I was reading. There was a rumbling at first, then the whole house was moving. Talk about unmoored. I thought the house was going to become unmoored from the foundation, the walls seemed to be twisting and stressing. Dishes were rattling in cupboards, books were shifting on shelves. It was barely possible to walk and stand in a doorway. My husband was upstairs and I couldn’t climb the stairs.
Whoa. Any fracking going on in western Montana?
Just a tip. When there is an earthquake, find a structural doorway and stand in it. I’ve been in several and during the World Series Quake, I was at Cetus and moved into the doorway of the Head Counsel’s office and finished our conversation as the rest of the folks looked terrified and scurried around. Also, Stay Away from windows.
best tip is to avoid doorways in general (and going outside) and instead to drop, cover and hold on. get under a desk or table, or stand in the corner of a room. but yes, definitely stay away from windows, and trees and power lines.
