For once we get to be that other team: you know, the one with the very bad record facing a contender who expects to smash us. Only, this time, we beat them, frustrate them into submission and make their fans into a puddle of futile mush. Last night Chris Stratton and the bullpen combined on a 4-hit shutout of the Brewers, a very good hitting team.

The win was the first shutout of the season at Willie Mays Field for the Giants. The Giants had 18 shutouts at home in 2015 and 11 last season in their park. If anyone wants to say our pitching is fine present them with this evidence. Tell them GG says hello and no, the Giants pitching has not been “fine” or “good” this year. Right now the team ERA ranks ninth in the NL and 18th in MLB. Last year the team staff ranked 4th in the NL.

From top to bottom the pitching staff has largely been a huge disappointment. It only took Chris Stratton on August 21, 2017 to get the first shutout at home!
