Sometimes the Together We’re Giants family makes my life easier and writes what I think. Sometimes their comments entertain me even when I disagree with them. Yesterday Eleuthero wrote:
The bats are either alive or almost totally dead. However, we can’t complain with a -32 run differential. That means that we’re not losing many games that are like tonight. We’re losing blowouts. I figure that with our pitching at 9th in the NL and our hitting at 12th we’re very, very lucky to be above .500. Of greater concern is the ongoing fragility of our players. Only the Dodgers seem to sprout great young talent when their stars go down. Yup, that’s the team we should be tracking, not the DBacks.
I couldn’t agree more.
On the bright side, Jeff Samardzija did look good and deserved a better fate. I’m throwing you a bone Giants fans.
Today Madison Bumgarner represents the hopes and dreams of Giants fans everywhere when he faces the Cardinals of St. Louis in an effort to split the series and salvage a modicum of dignity for our beloved baseballers. First pitch is at 1:05 PM, Orlando Cepeda time.
In other news, the Giants just completed a very interesting trade with the Texas Rangers: Corey Gearrin, Ajax and Jason Bahr for a player to be named later and cash considerations. That should tell you everything you need to know about the Giants thinking concerning Jackson and Gearrin. This was a salary dump and a player dump. I approve of this trade.
I also approve of this move: Steven Duggar and Ray Black were called up today.
Au Revor Corey Gearrin and Austin Jackson.
Welcome to the show kids!
