I’m looking forward to Spring Training 2020.
This weekend the Giants got swept in humiliating fashion by the Diambondbacks, only a few weeks after the Yankees pantsed our boys in our own yard, also in humiliating fashion. The Giants were horrible in every aspect of the game. There were no bright spots, only little moments of trivial joy, like Mike Yastrzemski’s Major League debut and first hits.
I was hoping the Giants had a game today so I could write about that instead..
I don’t want to spend much time on yesterday’s game or this past series other than to say the Giants are now 21-31 with the second worst record in the National League, behind only the Miami Marlins, whom the Giants visit on Tuesday for a three game series. Surf Maui and I will be there. There will be other South Florida Giants fans in attendance bravely keeping the faith and sporting the orange and black. Drop us a line if you will be at the game. Surf Maui and I are buying mojitos at The Clevelander.
The Giants have 90 games left to give Bruce Bochy a proper send-off. I am not giving up on this team and I have seen enough baseball to know 2/3 of a season is a long time. Hopefully the Giants can play at least a respectable type of baseball, evaluate their young players and make the right moves for the future, which, if I am Farhan Zaidi, starts today…
Happy Memorial Day. Let us give thanks and remember those brave men and women who gave their lives in service of our country. Let us honor those who give their service for us today.
