The winning streak is over at 5. The Giants were shut down last night by the Padres in their 6-1 loss. More specifically, the Padres bullpen shut down the Giants juggernaut hitting attack with seven scoreless innings of relief. Wilmer Flores hit a solo homer for the Giants. There is your highlight.
Trevor Cahill will not cut out the box score of this game and paste it into his scrapbook. He went 3 innings allowing five hits with four runs. Generally, this season a four-run lead is nothing to overcome for the Giants hitters. But on this night, the Padre relief corps was just too strong. Donnie Barrels had three more hits to raise his average to a phenomenal .352.
