Mike Yastrezmski hit two splash home runs, the last of which was a majestic walk-off shot in the bottom of the ninth that sent 5,678 cardboard cutout fans home happy at Willie Mays Field with a Giants victory, 7-6, over the Brown Bummers. The game-winning long ball was a blast off a letter-high 93 MPH lefty from the Padres bullpen who was destined to be on the business end of ESPN highlights on this night.
It’s only a splash hit if it soars into McCovey Cove on the fly. Otherwise, it’s just a sparkling home run.

The Giants celebrated with a kind of social distancing mime performance that saw them mimic clapping, high fives and butt pats without any actual touching. My oh my how the world has changed.
The Giants stormed back from a 6-2 deficit with a run in the sixth, three in the 8th from a blast with two on by Donovan Solano, who by the way has been a revelation this season, and the Yaz splash in the final frame. Alex Dickerson also went deep.
BCraw had three hits to bust out of his early season jitters.
There were no errors in the contest as the Giants tightened up their defense.
