The Giants took a loss entering into the bottom of the ninth and turned it into a win thanks to two solo home runs, one by Devers, one by Bericoto to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 win over the Sacramento A’s (LOL). It was a rareit for the 2026 Giants. Tyler Mahle started for San Francisco and pitched 5 2/3 innings of shutout baseball. It was his best outing of the season and lowered his ERA to 5.49. Let’s hope that trend continues.
The Giants counted on Hentges, Walker, Smith and Miller to close out the game with Miller getting the win and Smith surrendering a run to the Athletics in the top of the 8th inning. That run came on a solo homer by Max Muncy. It was a game of three solo home runs. The Devers blast ignited the crowd and Duane Kuiper. It was hit over 440 feet into right center. It was a man’s home run. The Bericoto blast came with two outs and went to dead center, traveling about 423 feet. It was epic.
Jung Hoo Lee made a nice running catch in the top of the fourth inning to save a double or a triple. The Giants had six hits in the game.
