The St. Louis Cardinals visit the sacred confines of Willie Mays Field for a game at 6:45 PM. McGreevy (6-9, 3.97 ERA) faces Webb (8-8, 4.21 ERA). The Cardinals enter the game at 72-72, a disappointing season for them despite the emergence of Jordan Walker, who has 28 home runs and 100 RBIs. Alec Burleson, the St. Louis first baseman, has 21 homers and 103 runs driven in. The problem for the Cardinals is weak production after their top two sluggers.
St. Louis is in third place in the NL Central, four games behind the final Wild Card slot for the postseason. They have been an up and down team this year.
The Giants Have Become the Rafael Devers Show
It’s no secret that Rafael Devers is the hottest hitter in baseball. With his homers in New York over the weekend against the Mets Devers put himself in the Giants’ record book. In a six-game span, Devers has six homers and seven walks. Since at least 1900, Devers joins Barry Bonds (2004) and Willie Mays (1958) as the only Giants with six or more homers and seven or more walks in that same span in a season.
Asked if this was one of his best streaks during his 10 years in the big leagues, through interpreter Erwin Higueros, Devers said, “I really don’t pay attention to my numbers. I just come over here, show up every day and work every single day.”

Devers enters tonight’s game with 35 home runs and 91 RBIs. There’s no need to discuss other Giants hitters except to say that Bryce Eldridge is one of the top rookies in the Major Leagues in his breakout season.
