The Giants return home to Willie Mays Field to play three games this weekend against the Atlanta Braves, the best baseball team in the universe. The Giants have lost 16 of their last 20 games and desperately need a series win to keep pace with the Reds, Marlins, DBacks and Cubs for the second Wild Card. I think the Phillies have sewn up the first WC but I could be mistaken.
The Giants enter the game 66-61, 12.5 games behind the Dodgers and in third place. The Braves are steamrolling the Major Leagues and running away with the National League East. Their record is 82-44 and they have a 13 1/2 games lead on the Philadelphians. The Braves may win 110 games. They will at least win 105. You can book it. Atlanta has three potential MVP candidates in Austin Riley, Ronald Acuna Jr. and Matt Olson. They should really finish 1, 2, 3 in the race. My vote would go to Acuna. Ozzie Albies is having a great season. So is Marcel Ozuna. Don’t get me started on their pitching. The Braves have the best starting staff in the Bigs. If they have a weakness it may be their pen.
Tonight’s pitching matchup is a must-see affair featuring Logan Webb against Spencer Strider. First pitch is at 7:15 PM and it’s Orange Friday!!! I wish I could be there.
Tomorrow’s game is scheduled for 1:05 PM. The Braves have slated Max Fried as their starter while the Giants have not announced theirs, which means it will be a bullpen game (insert sigh here).
Sunday’s finale is scheduled for 4:05 PM and will be televised nationally on ESPN. That pitching matchup is listed as TBD vs TBD.
Saturday is African American Heritage Day and the Giants will wear those cool San Francisco Sea Lions jerseys with the bear on it.
The Sea Lions played in San Francisco, as part of the West Coast Negro Baseball League for one season in 1946, and though the team mascot was a Sea Lion, their jerseys featured bears as they were hand-me-down uniforms from the defunct San Francisco Cubs organization. pic.twitter.com/D32r8452NG

I assume Aubrey Huff will not be in attendance.
Go Giants!
