This is amazing:
Final record on the road for this squad: 53-28, which ties the club record for road wins in the San Francisco era (’93).#ResilientSF | #SFGiants pic.twitter.com/jllwcURpJ5

With six games left to play the Giants host the Arizona Diamondbacks for a three-game series that starts tonight. It will be Luke Weaver against Logan Webb in the opener at Willie Mays Field with first pitch scheduled at 6:45 PM. The Diamondbacks are nearing toward a lost season and are basically playing for pride and to see what their young players can do.
The DBacks are 29th overall in team ERA with a garish number of 5.14. The Giants are second overall at 3.29. That is a big difference and tells much of the story for each team season in 2021.
With a two-game lead and a Magic Number of five I think winning four of the final six, two of three in each series, will clinch for the Giants. If the Giants win four of their final six the Bums would have to go six and zero to tie for the division, not impossible but not likely.
Right now the Giants are reeling from the horrible news about Brandon Belt and his fractured thumb. The Captain has been carrying the team for the past week or so and his loss, expected to be for at least two or three weeks, is a big blow. It says here that his absence at first base defensively will be missed as much as his offensive heroics.
Five Questions
- Who plays first base against righties in BB9’s absence?
- Should Gabe Kapler strategize and hold back Gausman for a possible Wild Card Game if necessary?
- Who are the top three MVP candidates in the National League this year?
- Will lead the Giants in innings pitched this year?
- Who is the best Pinch-Hitter on the Giants?
Today is the tenth anniversary of the wildest final day of the regular season in MLB history. I remember it well. Read this.
