Greek Giant

Heliot Ramos, Luis Matos, Casey Schmitt and Tyler Fitzgerald are now fixtures on the Giants with all the injuries the team has suffered in the past two weeks. Tonight those kids and others host the Colorado Rockies at Willie Mays Field. Game time is 7:15 PM. It’s Feltner versus Harrison on the mound.

For tomorrow’s second game of the series it will be an afternoon contest with Ty Blach pitching for the purple mountaineers and Jordan Hicks on the mound for the hometown heroes. That game is scheduled for 1:05 PM. The finale of the series on Sunday is also scheduled for 1:05 PM with the pitchers listed as Hudson for the Rockies and TBD for the Giants. It will be interesting to see if the Giants go with a reliever to start the game.

The Rockies come into the series having won seven games in a row! They just swept the Padres in San Diego for the first time since 2013, or when Matt Cain was the Giants’ ace. They are now 15-28, good for .349 winning/losing percentage. It’s amazing how awful they were playing before this streak. They are getting better pitching. Elias Diaz, the catcher and Ryan MacMahon, the third baseman are the top hitters to watch out for on the Colorado side.

Injury News

It was announced yesterday that Jung Hoo Lee has sever structural damage to his left shoulder. Translation: it’s serious and I think it likely he will not be back this season. It’s sad news but it does give the Giants a chance to try Ramos and Matos in the outfield and see what they can do.
