Greek Giant

The Giants thrashed the Dodgers in a Cactus League game yesterday by the score of 12-1. The story of the game, for GG, was Alex Wood’s shutout performance over six innings in which he allowed only one hit and looked super duper ready for the season to start. Thario Estrada continued his hot hitting going 3-4 and driving in three runs while LaMonte Wade Jr. also went 3-4. The Giants had 16 hits in all. A good time was had by the boys in orange and black.

Good things happen when you go the opposite way:

The World Baseball Classic Was a Smashing Success

With Japan’s electric 3-2 victory over Team USA (sniff, sniff) in the World Baseball Classic Final last night, Major League Baseball accomplished it’s mission to make the tournament bigger, bolder, and memorable. It was likely the most exciting WBC ever and it was led by Shohei Ohtani who was named MVP an struck out Mike Trout on a beautiful old-fashioned curve ball to end the game. Despite the injuries to various stars like Edwin Diaz and Jose Altuve, the WBC featured fantastic games, tremendous fan interest and a beautiful, genuine atmosphere that cannot be replicated in MLB games. This was as good as it gets in making baseball a global game with international interest.
