Tonight’s Game: Rockies (74-84) Vs Giants (83-75) at Willie Mays Field, 7:15 pm
Jon Gray (10-9, 4.54) vs Johnny Cueto (17-5, 2.79)
The Starting Lineups
Rockies
1. Blackmon CF
2. Descalso 2B
3. Arenado 3B
4. Gonzalez RF
5. Dahl LF
6. Murphy C
7. Parra 1B
8. Adames SS
9. Gray P
Giants
1. Span CF
2. Belt 1B
3. Posey C
4. Pence RF
5. Crawford SS
6. Pagan LF
7. Panik 2B
8. Gillaspie 3B
9. Cueto P
In the series finale against the Rockies, the Giants are looking for a victory in the decisive game. With four games left to play and the Giants 1 1/2 games behind the Mets for the top Wild Card spot and 1 game ahead of the Cardinals for the second entry, this is as close to a must-win game as we are going to see all season.
Johnny Cueto makes his return to the mound after missing a start due to a groin pull. All that shimmy and shakey takes a toll on even the best athletes… Johnny Beisbol has had a stellar fist season with the Giants and tonight he seeks his 18th victory in what would be a Cy Young-worthy season in most years.
Jon Gray will be pitching for the Rockies and looking to continue his strong work after a 7 inning and zero runs performance against the Giants when he last faced them in Denver. The right-hander has 182 strikeouts and has yielded 28 homers this year in 28 starts.
Some Questions
- How will Johnny Cueto’s groin hold up?
- Will Kelby Tomlinson see more than a pinch-hit appearance with his hot bat?
- Who will lead the Giants in RBIs?
- How will the Giants offense respond after getting humbled in last night’s shut out?
- How long will Charlie Blackmon’s beard grow before it becomes a public health hazard?
Breckeroni says the playoffs start now. Win or go home early
4 sure.
Baseball is waaaaaaaaaaay better than golf and fishing!
Was thinking a Plan B was in order. Hooo boy, just in the nick of time, GG.
If the boys aren’t grinding sawdust with the bats, they will hit tonight. Just relax and remember what got you here. That’s been in short supply lately
Maybe just remember what happened in the first half.
Yeah, when Bochy was a genius.
Quoting Sgbssfg from the end of the last post (because it is good stuff):
Happy Birthday Tim Flannery! Now go out and win one for the flan man!
The only relevant question about tonight is how’s the oppositions changeup. That pitch is sacred to Giants hitters, they are compelled to never lay a bat on it.
Reds just tied it
Esa, Neña!
Kuip just announced that the Cards won it then they showed the 3:3 on the scoreboard. Then he said “that is an April’s fool” That was weird.
Not so good.
Already in semi nauseous playoff mode. Not a good idea, Kuip.
Sounds like Krukow dove on the sword…he had passed a note to Kuip
Sometimes those guys process to much info between all that’s goin on and they slip. Happens to the best of them. I’m sure his ear piece corrected him.
We need Moooooooose with the play by play in Stl
Some chubby Red swung like Casey and hit a 65 hopper to third with a guy on 3rd, 2out, 2strikes.
It’s the Gong Show Wild Card Special
Well that’s not good.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCtdKWWfZG8
Luv luv love that song.
It’s a Giants fan favorite this year.
THIS year? Lol
Me too!
whoa – tie game – and stud muffin is up again!
Answers to Greek questions:
1. It will hold up as long as the Giants are in contention.
2. No. Hungry young prospects embarrassing old rich underachievers is bad protocol as well as bad for business. You play your top moneymakers to see that your money is actually being put to work. God forbid those lazy turds who make those millions sit on the bench. This is a business above all, after all, and “winning” is in the eye of the money holders.
3. Belt. Although he isn’t fit for the middle of the lineup at this stage of his career (approaching 30).
4. Complete and total entitled indifference, mirroring the entire 2nd half.
5. Longer than it takes a lameass hipster with a weird beard to change a tire.
1. Buster and Bochy looked concerned as they talked before the game. Watch early BP activity
4. Have a drink. You don’t believe that, nor should you
It’s why I drink.
#2 – I have Lita Ford on my mind.
Complete and total deflection of hard points as usual. Ya old softie, Sav…Lita though….
Hard?? Sheeet. The hard questions go to the scouting department and where the eff are the brothahs and young latin talents. That’s hard cider, son.
Come on, man…no one was asking where the minorities were when they were winning 3 in 5.
And the hardest point is why they tanked. Oh wait, it’s because Bochy plays the guys who make the most money no matter what, and those guys (most of em with rings) know this and cruise as a result, hence the tanking. My bad.
If I close my eyes forever, will this season remain unchanged…?
Yes! Way to close, Rob Nenn.
Once, in ’93 at Three Rivers, at the end of a game in which the Orange and Black won, I made it to right behind the Giants dugout. The night before, Nen was LIGHTS OUT in a save. And I saw him departing the field. I shouted,
“GREAT WORK LAST NIGHT, NEN!!!”
And he smiled, nodded, and tipped his cap to me. One of my Top 5 Giants memories.
Nen me once…Nen me twice…Nen me deadly…
Don’t close your eyes forever, that would be sad 🙁
It’s just a song, Peaches. A great song. Oh Lita… ;^)

🙂
Tonight is Empty Green Seat Heritage Night. It’s a sellout
Cold or not it’s embarrassing
Got to have those cat like reflex feet to play third.
Conor is an elite defender to go with his all world offense.
The idiocy of ever playing Gillaspie at 3B has already hurt Cueto and the Giants.
uh oh. missed it. things were looking good enough last nite…
Laser shot down the line that Brooks might have had, but no one else. The blog is ready to explode.
Brooks Duffy?
Our usual whipping boys are getting whipped in the first half inning
cue up CC’s track
oh lord I feel like I’m dyin…
I think The Eagles hit should be altered “Biased Eyes”
It was not a laser. It was a decently hit ground ball. In Conor’s defense though most 3B probably don’t make that play. But I think Nunez gets to that.
Gilaspie a clear favorite for the Lead Glove award.
He’s awful. Three other guys on the bench who can play that position, and in a must-win game, Bochy chooses the worst possible option.
Saving Kelby for just the right moment…
Pinch hitting in a blowout.
Great start Cueto.
Yep. Coming up very small tonight.
He was hurt 8 days ago.
Maybe they shouldn’t have rushed him back.
They shouldn’t. He doesn’t look right at all so far. Maybe it will loosen, but lots of thigh high meat that inning
Looks awesome to moi. Let’s not throw him under the bus jest yet.
Cueto looks awesome? He is awesome, but those were 3 rocket shots. He’s my guy…he isn’t right yet
First inning, I’m just tellin’ ya.
Also…why is it OK to throw so many other guys we’re rooting for under the bus? We’re a bunch of quick triggers…
He should be done with his pregame bull pen warm up with just a few more pitches.
Arenado!
(Said with clenched fist in Seinfeld “Newman!” fashion…)
Sorry – that was a fly ball to CF.
Not when Denard is out there, it’s guaranteed extra bases
The geniuses had him positioned in Left Center.
Lead legs. Just showed them off.
Here we freakin’ go..,come on Cueto. Come on Giants. I’m staying way past my bedtime. Make it worth the sacrifice of sleep.
He struck out the side, on the even numbered batters.
On pace for 9 27 18 18 0 27.
Span the man. Now for Belt the svelte?
We gotta Walk!
Lead off walks were rally killers last night.
I am so glad after Tomlinson got the only hard hit last night Bucket Head is playing sunshine Gillapsie
He doesn’t trust people who correct their vision. That’s why he likes Peavey so much.
Cardinals win, better pick it up Giants
That is just stank ass unlucky. WTF
Baseball is cruel
Jobu does whatever he danged well pleases.
Throwing every pitch from the stretch can’t be good for this kid’s arm.
I agree — modern pitching coaching however favors very little movement out of the windup because it is easy to repeat.
He will have TJ surgery within three years.
It seems inconsistent with the obsession with pitch counts.
You just gotta laugh at this point
Or step up to the whipping post.
Guys… the season is over. This team won’t win another game this year. The Dodgers can’t wait to kill us.
I am going tomorrow night — do you think Tomlinson will get to play against Rich Hill or will Bochy go full moron (I want to say something else) and run out the same tired lineup.
He will probably start Beckham.
He’ll adjust for a lefty, but yes, he’ll start Beckham instead of Kelby.
He will start Beckham.
That is the rumor.
The latter. Bochy hates KT.
Bring the mojo, GiantC! I’m at the game now. Bochy said in his pre-game show on the radio that Beckham will start tomorrow night’s game. He said Nunez will probably miss the Dodgies series.
Off to a good start.
Just building drama for the epic finish
We do epic finishes?
We’re kind of busy with an epic collapse at the moment.
Hey, we gotta have at least ONE 9th inning come back this year don’t we?
*crickets*
One way or the other… ( 2016 has been leaning heavily towards “the other”)
I’m fine with it. I don’t want Bochy to escape any heat this off season.
Or Evans or Sabean or the scouting department.
Or Lou Seal… He’s involved too somehow…
There was talent to use, but he didn’t.
Cards won.
never mind…
Hey, at least the Posey out wasn’t a dribbler to second. Baby steps.
Why is Gillaspe in there and Kelby isn’t? This season is just weird.
Because Bochy’s head is broken.
Bruce Bochy.
I know everyone thinks Kelby should be at 3rd. I understand the frustration.
How many games has Kelby played at 3rd in his major league life? It’s a reasonable question.
Duffy was the ironman out there last year. And I think Kelby got hurt before Matt, so probably not many. Still think he is a better defender.
You don’t just go to a new position at the MLB level and shine.
OK, how about Adrianza?
This place tore EA a new Orofice last week.
Realistically, Gillaspie is the right choice. I know everyone will think I’m crazy.
We came to that conclusion some time ago.. 😉
I’ll look it up but Gillapsie is a poor fielder — one of the reasons the White Sox DFA’d him and nobody else wanted him.
That’s one way to put it.
Buster mutters “that wasn’t a strike.”
Sure looked good from here, Buster.
Right over the plate.
Perfect pitch on the inside corner. When Buster starts muttering to himself and shakes his head well…. This could be a long night.
He should have one of the first two fastballs that were much better pitches to hit.
They seem to have turned into whiners, not hitters.
Gripping WAY too tight. All of them
“I’m holding on too tight. I’ve lost the edge.”
Except for Bochy, who lost his grip a while ago.
POST OF THE YEAR
Hyperbole much, TS?
Truth much. It sums up this catastrophe of a season. To a T. Hyperbole is a cool word, though.
When I was a kid I thought it was pronounced Hyper-Bowl…
(avid reader but never heard it used in conversation) LOL
Same with me and “epitome.” Heard it much, but when I saw it spelled, I thought you pronounced it “Epitoam.” LOLLLL
Did you ever say it that way?
The internet is a hyperbolic echo chamber.
POST OF THE YEAR
( I wanted to play!)
That was good
Buster doing his best Pagan impression.
“He’s a bad influence…”
That was not a good first inning!
Second inning starting great.
Bullpen. Right now.
C’mon total – you know better than that…
I know, but Cueto’s not right. Maybe he’ll settle down.
I don’t think Cueto is moving like he normally does. I admire trying to man up for the team, but I’m not sure he can pull it off.
Yeah… he looks hurt to me.
He’s not right. We can’t will him back to health.
This is not good, folks.
Exactly. He shouldn’t be pitching tonight.
A limited Cueto is better than a healthy Peavy or Cain.
This is true. I guess the other 16 possibilities aren’t better options.
Don’t see it. He’s a warrior.
Watch with your eyes along with your heart. His pitches are up , and below normal speed/movement. Yes, he’s a warrior…who is running out of arrows
Nah. J.C. be fine.
I don’t think he’s getting the same push with his legs.
Oracle’s watching with his eyes. He nailed it
Fans need a 4 spot here.
Cueto injured. Nunez out. This year is a Monty Python bit
This is when the Rocky music starts playing Matthew! You know that!
Well, after that Pence weak out…
SPAN SPAN SPAN SPAN SPAN SPAN SPAN Wonderful SPAN Lovely SPAN…SPAN
Your mouth to Jobu’s ears.
I will scream once again until management hears me. We need a slugger in the line up. Someone who hits 30 bombs a year. No more Spans … no more slap hitting junk. Just one guy who is a threat in the line up. Cause Belt isn’t the guy. Posey is declining. Pence is declining.
And you’re SOL.
I would just be happy if they stopped gambling on injured & declining players.
Cueto has balls of steel. He’ll be fine. We need runs.
This is just ridiculous. We’ve already been eliminated by the Dodgers and we can’t beat easy teams like the Padres and Rockies? It’s just absurd that we have to watch this mess (no offense Greek Giant).
The Dodgers have already won the division thanks to Bobby Evans and his failure of a first year.
And this weekend we will be forced to watch LA celebrate again after putting the final nail in this atrocious season. And then I will have to listen to all the gloating at work. smh
I don’t know if anyone besides me has ever seen anything like it. smh
There is no one like you…adn that not a compliment
Ok my bad thefarnz.
Well i very much respect your opinion and such.
Can the dog take a spot in the line-up?
You know at least it could catch.
So happy to see the same lineup that scored 0 runs last night.
It’s the same lineup that scored 12 runs in the first game
Against a bad pitcher.
So, when they do well, it’s because of an excuse. When they do poor it’s who they are? This place has gone bonkers
Yes.
There’s been such a huge sample size of suck that’s it’s kind of hard not to see it that way.
Frustration breaking through the dam.
That was fools luck.
Love that dog on the skateboard. Flat out love it.
I’d be good with Comcast if they just showed the dog on the skateboard for the rest of the night
Definitely.
I’m now anticipating a playoff game vs the Cards for the right to play New York for the right to play Chicago. Gonna be an epic run.
In our dreams at this point.
Keep that thought. I’ve got a great what if for that later. To controversial right now. Will wait til after the game.
They need to top the 2012 elimination game madness..
Hand salute at third!
Atta Boch
He is amazing.
I was kinda of hoping Pagan got hurt. I know it’s terrible but don’t care.
So we would be no hit?
Well, his entire career is mostly a DL stint.
He’s playing the FA market. Might actually be a good thing right now for us.
This season has heartbreak written all over it. Insane they cant lock up a wild card spot
That pitch should have been landing in the bleachers.
Not a video game is why
Let’s see if NY has guts. He’s out
Now. Let that be a momentum changer.
Crap.
We were on the same page there Craw
Cueto is a great competitor. He doesn’t have much tonight, but he’s using everything he has.
Turning point!!! Runner at 1st with Newman batting turns into 2out nobody on!! Sweet
And as soon as I click POST Cargo hits a double. I’ll be quiet now (hold your applause)
Pagan looks so old and slow.
He is, but there’s no way anyone gets to that ball.
American League written all over him.
No team in their right mind would put him in the DH spot.
What team could use a below average hitter as a bat only player?
If we lose tonight. We might have to sweep the Dodgers to get in the playoffs. Not happening.
I think if we lose tonight it’s over. You were right: we might not win another game.
Heartbreaking.
Agreed
Johnny looking like a right handed Jamie Moyer tonight. All guts, no stuff. Dude is a gamer
Yup. He doesn’t have anything tonight. No command. No zip on his fastball. This start is all heart.
I believe you boyz forgot that this guy is a Pitcher.
When healthy: pitcher with great stuff.
I love the dude. He’s hurt. I’m pointing it out. He may be the hero…hope it’s not at a huge cost
Remember when Pagan hit that walk off inside the park HR in early 2013 in which he “severely injured his hamstring?” Does anyone remember him grimacing in pain after crossing the plate?
That was spectacular!
Yes. It absolutely was. But he apparently hurt his hamstring on the play, which sidelined him for 12 weeks. Watch the play. Do you see him looking hurt? Limping??
http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/42160142/v27433597/colsf-pagan-delivers-walkoff-insidethepark-homer
He might be a litt ginger…
Ah there’s nothing there. At all. Nothing.
If I recall correctly, he told Blanco that he felt something pop on an out field play earlier in the game. The in the park homerun exacerbated it.
Lol does he look hurt at that point on that play? On an inside the park HR?? After that celebration? Out for 12 weeks?? I’m calling BS.
Let it go. Let it rock. Let it roll.
Get a grip and listen to some Aerosmith.
(The only Aerosmith reference you will EVER get from me, and of course, Pagan is the one to make me stoop to that level. Now I despise him even more, and I didn’t think that was possible.)
Favorite Joe Perry solo?
I really don’t like Aerosmith. At all. Steven Tyler makes me wanna punch mountains.
You’re Crazy
GNR. That’s better.
Get in the ring!
Bring it, Guccione!!!
Their old stuff I like. The post-Love in an Elevator era is when they become completely full of crap.
Now I can actually agree to some extent with that. “Love in an Elevator” and everything after that is migraine-inducing. But just before that, “Angel” isn’t bad, nor is “Dude Looks Like a Lady.” Some of their old stuff is good, “Last Child” is exceptional, but ultimately even their old stuff comes off like a poor Zeppelin imitation.
PS – great Nen story below. Was his entrance song hells bells also?
Not sure. But he was awesome when healthy. Front line.
For whom the bell tolls feels more right
Word. But the best closer entrance song of all time was BY FAR, Grant Balfour of the A’s with Metallica’s “One.” The thrash section. First time I saw that? CHILLS. I wanted to rage all over someone with a 100 mph fastball. That guy was awesome, and that 2012 A’s team was fantastic. Was hoping they’d meet the Giants in the WS. Well, I was happy at the end all the same.
Smoke On The Water.
Thank you
Sit Down!!!
Johnny Q was a great pickup this season.
Hard to win a ball game if they cannot score any runs. No matter how good your starter is.
Gotta get on the board here.
Our hitters…come on guys.
Let’s go Connor
Clap clap… Clap clap clap 👏
That was a really good AB.
You did it!
WE did it!
YAY!!!!!
Get hot, CG
Atta boy Conor!
Things are so bad I get excited over a single.
I feel bad for Samardzija . As soon as he turns it around, his team forgets how to hit.
Groin Tester Bunt
Worst ground ball placement of the night…Denard is struggling
Yay!! Span!! How many years do we have him?
2 more
He should get an extension.
Fastball above the belt and we go to the fourth.
So I called the 3-2 count and the fastball above the belt that would end the inning.
Make better calls!
Every Belt AB is 0-2.
He’s looking for 4 balls
He swung at the first two pitches.
Stop making me look bad
And then 3-2. It is how he gets to 100 walks
BB9 clap clap
The blog doesn’t like him
Most overrated player on the Giants. Every year I wait for him to break out and he doesn’t.
Best hitter on the team this year. So you must really dislike the rest of them
That’s not saying much.
I know. But certain guys are targets for bias that makes no sense.
I agree. Belt has had a good year.
Horrible year for a first baseman. 78 Rbi’s and 16 Homeruns. Awful!!
“Horrible” lol.
Come on, man.
I’ve always said, Belt unfortunately came up with these expectations that he was going to be the slugger hero everyone had been looking for, and those notions were amplified with all the clamoring for him when they were stalling on bringing him up and again when they weren’t giving him playing time over older players. So here he is, playing all the time, and he’s not a Rizzo or Goldschmidt. So… yeah. Haters hate. And Belt still Belts.
I really do. Belt should hit at least 25 bombs a year. He’s a disappointment.
Nice battle though
A Pyrrhic victory if there ever was one.
Swinging strike? (radio mode)
96 up yes
Better than looking at it I guess..
How do you not get fkng barrel on the ball with all those fkng pitches? WTF!
Cause he’s overrated.
I wish Sabean would have just shut up and not said anything
What was it he said, back in ’96 or ’97?
“I’m not an idiot”.
Belt has been missing that pitch his entire career.
OK, gang…keep the faith. This place is bringing me down. TTYL
We are all ready to jump off the Golden Gate….
Did they install those safety nets yet? There may stil be time..
Can you imagine if the Giants could get Cueto say 3-5 runs how even better he could pitch?
Can you imagine if the Giants hadn’t blown an 8 game lead?
Imagine if the Giants had hitters…
I guess they ran that well dry Tuesday nite.
You mean like Adam Duvall?
WTF?
Cueto can’t run.
If I’m the rockies. I bunt one down the first base line.
Didnt really want to watch last night’s replay
Now batting…Cousin Itt
I wonder if Blackmon has a pirate costume fo Halloween?
More like a Joaquin Phoenix costume.
https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/498842c6e0be4f2f8828b3acd9c9729e289414042b351cc5858b2f43157d7f18.jpg
Or a caveman pirate costume.
Or an Adam LaRoche does Joaquin Phoenix costume…
I’d take him in black and 610nm
The meat and potatoes of the Giants order is coming up. Again.
Johnny Cueto is a Warrior.
Come on! Get him some runs!
I have my rally cap on… in the 4th inning
It must be so damn hard facing Nolan Ryan every night for the Giants. Tough break. Every night. Ran into a buzzsaw…tip the cap…
/drink
Way ahead of ya there, kid.
My vodka/Monster is kicking in…
There’s a little hyperbowl there, methinks…The epitoam of exaggeration.
I should hope so. It’s three hours later where you are. I did go to happy hour with some grad students today, though.
Lol. You know what I love about my job, Lefty? I don’t gotta wake up for NOBODY. Bottoms up, beyotches.
I have had 2 glasses of an insouciant Pinot noir, and I just might finish the whole dang bottle
Do it!!
Southern Tier Pumking way over here in Pennsylvania, banks.
I just don’t understand how this team is even still in the run for the WC. It’s that bad.
Which is why getting in at this stage would be an embarrassment.
Beg to differ– all you gotta do is get in the playoffs. I already made my hotel reservation for the WS
Hotel Rock Bottom is lovely this time of year…
That is like 6 lead off walks the last two nights.
They’re going on and on about this contested ending to the game in St. Louis, and I realize…I. Just. Don’t. Care.
The Giants shouldn’t be in this position. They should have easily secured a wild card spot and they shouldn’t have been eliminated from the division race more than a week before the season ended. If it comes down to some ground rule double in St. Louis that Cincinnati didn’t challenge in time, and that keeps the Giants out of the postseason, that is absolutely what they deserve. You reap what you sow.
I totally agree. They should never have been in this position.
Just another piece to the puzzle that fits.
Yep I also agree. The ball was in their court (or field so to speak) the whole time. It is up to them to show that they want it bad enough.
Lefty needs a hug.
I care if they make the playoffs. But I can’t get worked up about something in St. Louis. The Giants need to take care of their own business.
Yes
Drinking game
Name of game? Hater
right there with you Doctor – i had a discussion with my Reds fan nephew today — is it worse to be embarrassed by NOT getting a WC slot or getting one by the skin of our teeth and then loosing — he wanted to know why a last place team fan would even care : )
It’s seems like 20 years ago. But what was the lineup in the first half that actually produced runs? Can someone give that to me?
It involved guys like Grant Green and Mac Williamson, so no.
Pena, Grant Green, some Jr Giants and Crawford.
And Belt. He was raking in the first half.
Charlie Blackmon is actually Adam LaRoche with a weirder beard. Just you wait and see…Rockies clubhouse problems to follow.
Lovely hitting by Pence!
And a BCraw RBI.
This should be interesting. See if the Giants can get these 2 runs in.
A better out to the right side would have moved Pence. Now it will take a hit.
A RUN. WHOA.
What is this papa?
It is a RUN my son. Cherish it.
It’s like a penny to Daddy Warbucks.
Needed a hit, Craw.
Or a grounder to second.
Then that grounder by Pagan would have tied the game.
Botom of four
Another pagan ritual.
90ft closer
He’s burning his free agency at the stake.
I suppose blood sacrificing the Giants season wasn’t enough. Freakin’ pagan.
Finally some good luck!!!!!
Eeek…if they only get one run.
Rally cap magic
Finally.
Wow a bloop!
Atta babe Joltin Joe Jr.
A dead duck… I’ll take it.
looked like a line drive in the box score
The pride of Hopewell Junction, N.Y.
Atta babe Connor.
Another good AB.
Mr.Happy
Conor says “Eduardo who?”
Eduardo says why do you spell your name with one “n”
& still have KT off bench
Good point
Bochy is a genius
CG is my guy.
Oh $h!t! Bochy”s Gillespie love is justified (tonight)
Three nights 5-9
Stop making me look bad
No matter what “it”s all Bochy’s fault. “
Especially the rock bottoms.
No, but there have been some head scratchers.
So you’re a Conor fan and hate Mac? Sounds about right.
Neither assertion is correct. However 2016 stats Gillaspie= 186 at bats, 6 HR, .258, OPS 716. Wiiliamson 112 at bats 6 hr .223 .726 ops and 35 strikeouts
If you don’t complain, he’ll never deliver! Gotta make your voice heard.
Jon Gray’s kind of a weird-looking dude.
Thats messed up
Looks like he stepped out of Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
Or maybe Breaking Bad.
Turned lineup over
Scored for the first time in 12 innings. Much needed.
I was just gonna say.
Hold ’em here, Johnny.
Cueto is lucky he didn’t get spiked.
Woah, I guess JC can run?…(wincing)
Arenado seems to hit pretty good at sea level
Arenado just wears us out. Year after year.
It’s a fookin’ single, total.
Hyperbole much?
Ayup.
btw: :o)
Good times tonight, mate.
Just sayin’ seems like he’s always on base.
He can hit. I’d trade the whole farm for that guy.
Unnecessary challenge meatballs and hanging sliders will tend to leave a mark with sluggers.
When does Arenado hit free agency? And when he does, can he please go to the American League?
How about the Giants sign him. Wait, that makes way too much sense.
Wouldn’t play here after playing in that arcade up there in denver.
You mean he doesn’t want to play for a winner.
That too!
This franchise won’t even look at him until he’s 37. That’s how they roll.
He is some kind of player!
Im starting to take his bludgeoning of my Giants personal!
“Right across the Colorado.
Grab some pine, Cargo.”
Yep. J.C. is meat tonight. You guys all called it early.
He’s showing us why he should win the Willie Mac.
Greek Giant and I having that discussion tonigh. Crawford or Cueto. I love Johmny Cueto but IMO Crawford gets the nod because of longevity with the team. We shall find out tomorrow
Craw be the one.
I’m happy with either.
Just changed my vote, total. :o)
Probably, but if you read the parameters of the award seems JC defines them. Seems like the other guys really like him as well.
After this series, it will be spelled Kolorado.
Wow the Giants announcers are really whining about the game in St. Louis.
I will say this I have seen teams take a lot longer than 10 seconds to challenge a call.
the 10 second rule is only for the end of the inning, i think
Really nice inning by Cueto
He’s getting stronger as the game rolls on.
Whenever we say Conor at our house, we say, “Kawna,” like with a Boston accent. It’s more fun. Highly recommend.
How do you pronounce “Gillaspie”?
Oh we never get past Kawna.
You like apples?
Way to hustle there, Despando.
I think I’m rooting for Texas to come out of the AL. The Red Sox have already had their share, and I don’t like the idea of the Big Cheater going out a winner. Cleveland’s already had its moment this year, too. Texas has never won a World Series, and I think it’s time. I like Darvish and Hamels and a lot of their players, too.
I’m rooting for Toronto — colorful players, a national team, a bunch of bangers — what’s not to like?
Bautista.
And Tool-o.
Rosenthal said that many of the players feel the same. Lots of sentiment for Beltre and Beltran.
Yeah, Beltre, too. Love him.
Im rooting for the Giants to win the WS
OK. Texas is my second choice then.
Giants first– everyone else is 1,000,000
Lol.
from the confines of your time machine : )
I’m okay with Texas exactly for the same reason.
Who was number 12 in the celebration shot on the Pagan ITP HR on the highlights? It was pre Panik I believe
I’m happy to see Bryan Price take the playoff race so seriously. Seems like a good guy.
Need to get this run. Do your job Pagan and move the runner.
Span’s out on that play at 1st or 2nd.
Nice job, Angel.
Well that was a good move by Pagan. You know Gray can’t really hustle right now if the ball goes toward him.
Great job by Pagan — I am sure he did it on his own. More players should bunt for a hit with a runner at second and no outs.
My goodness. Was that the Angel hustling that gorgeous butt down the line?
What a great play by Arenado — I thought no chance
But no cigar.
That will be reviewed. But I think he is safe.
Pagan beats Arenado– cool
Can’t overturn that
One would think it.
My stomach is overturning…
As long as the call is not overturning
Terrible at bat Panik
You mean hitting a weak grounder on the first pitch and a nasty pitch.
Yes it was. Let’s hope they get some luck from it
I think he’s safe and if so that is huge
Inconclusive.
Please score
Okay Gillapsie — now your AB means something.
Good job. I still will hate him the next time he does anything wrong. 🙂
Great slide by Crawford. That one time I’ll give him a pass on sliding headfirst.
Safe by a dislocated pinkie
A lead!
I’ll take that, Mr. Happy.
That’ll work Conor, I’ll tip my cap when you have a good game.
This seems like a good spot for Beckham
Loving me some CG abs. Professional grade.
Why is Cueto batting. I would think he is close to done.
I concur, but have you seen the Giants bullpen this season?
Or I guess a bunt could lead to two runs. Wow.
lol.
Exactly how they draw it up.
Just hope the hammy is ok
And everybody thinks Bochy doesn’t know what he’s doing!
lol
Should pinch hit here! Cueto is spent and we could put the game away, bad move.
good lord cueto is a bunt machine !!
A 2 base bunt.
Cueto!!!!!
Johnny!!!
Thank you Rockettes.
Hahahaha SUCK IT ARENADO
Nice to see him finally make a mistake against the Giants.
Two.
What was the other one?
Angel.
That was a hit all the way though, he didn’t throw it away, he almost got him.
He still sucks.
still happy hour?
Ha! “Love it when you talk like that.” 😉
Cueto induces the RTI for 2 RBIs!!
Heeeeere’s Johnny!
Have they voted for the Willie Mac award yet? Arenado giveth, and Arenedo giveth back
Great bunt
SMALL BALL!
Two great bunts this inning.
Kuwait-o’s deceptive timing is effective even when he’s bunting. Ankle breaker for the 3B.
Wild play — as wild as Hunter’s hair
That’s the kind of magic that was missing at AT&T.
“…bunted for a double…”
Pence and Beckham whooping it up like kids in the Little Leagues. I love it.
Beckham looks like Dennis the Menace.
Lol he totally does!
He looks like Matt Cain.
i always loved that striped shirt he would wear.
The hi-water coveralls.
He do!
Gordo is a good Giant already.
without 1 AB.
YAY!!!
👏👏👏
Johnny Cueto!
Give that guy the Willie Mac Award. That was inspiring!
It’s about damn time.
That’s the old Giants — three runs thrown in
I might now PR for Cueto
Maybe that’ll adjust your swag walk a little bit, AreNADA.
Span should b bunting to third — our new game plan
Span & Panik are brothers from another mother.
Please do not insult Panik like that.
Similar years with bats
But you won’t hear as much beef with Panik…
Sadly, yes. But Panik is 25 and the Giants 2B of the future. Span is a washed up albatross that cannot be benched soon enough.
Albatross is a bit much. He can still come around with bat and track balls.
1. Runs Thrown in
2. Flans Birthday
3. Magic Wandoo
4. Pagan is a Pro
5. Cueto best bunt of the year
Lol at all the haters using the”deserve” word.
Note to Bochy: Embrace the bunt — it’s a wonderful weapon
That was a freakin beautiful bunt by Johnny Cueto.
Maybe they should just all bunt now for the rest of the game 🙂 But yes what a sight. I was out doing bed time come back and bases loaded and nobody out and then they actually score! Very nice!
Where Arenado is playing another bunt is the play
Belt should listen to you
Well, THAT lit us up big time!
Now we gotta hold it and win!
100 pitches.
Get somebody up, dammit.
Still chucking 94.
Moore: 11 Ks.
Smarge: 11 Ks.
J.C. 11 Ks.
And just 2 total walks between the 3 of them.
And Bum goes tomorrow
Cueto coming off an injury comes out to pitch the 7th inning after 97 pitches with a lot of stress innings and they needed to pull Bum. Hopefully Bum deals tomorrow.
The Dodgers are so bad against lefties i would consider pitching Blach, Okert, Lopez and Smith in game 2 against the Dodgers.
I totally agree.
That’s actually a great point.
Zito
#RallyZito
Hahaha yes!
We will NEVER forget.
All is forgiven, Mr. Zito.
I always liked Zito, and maybe it’s lefty bias, but he’s a class act. Always was.
NEVER!
This effort might nail down the Wilie Mac
I really hope I get to see this rotation in the playoffs.
I think that Halicki game was his no-hitter.
He definitely threw that no-hitter in 1975.
It was. My grandfather took me to that doubleheader. We sat in the upper deck. It was awesome.
What a great performance by Cueto. If we can sneak into the pkayoffs our 4 man rotation will make us the team that no one wants to pkay, notwithstanding the lack of hitting.
They’re gonna let Johnny go back out there? Appears so.
probably just to face just Arenado
Have they paid the insurance deductible for the second half yet? Been waiting since the break to see the coverage kick in. Could really use some tonight. And for the rest of the season.
Lot easier to stay up tonight than last night
Some G/Es had serious grade-1 strains in their belief in J.C. during the early innings tonight.
Oh ye of little faith.
I believe.
Cueto and Pagan talked us down off the Golden Gate.
Tip of the cap to you, Pablo. You never wavered.
It was really a lack of faith in the offense to come back from a 2-0 deficit. That WAS last night’s final score. I thought it was game over after the first inning.
Glad you were wrong, for a change.
Me too
I knew he’d finish his warm ups after the first inning. It’s the hitters I worry about. But, so far so good.
Ridiculous move Bochy. Law can get lefties out.
Not so sure, GG. Got the arms, use them.
The don’t pitch Lopez. Smith and Okert are both better. But with a three run lead and nobody out Law should pitch the inning.
Wrongo bongo. Every hitter, every game counts now.
Lopez has been awful all year. How’d he do?
Awful.
I’m walking the damn dog. After a three mile walk and ten pitching changes I should make it back for the 9th.
Go for it.
Good call, gc. Awesome.
Bring Law back in now?
Please don’t look for clear logic.
Still like quality of Span ABs. He’s hit some balls hard, he’s taken some walks.
Guess you have to have balls to keep the faith in this guy.
Absolutemente, Foots.
We should see 4-5 more relievers before it’s over.
Count on it!
Com’on!
Double play coming up.
I mean single play.
Saving Smith for the Doodgers.
9th
Romo in the 9th?
Sombrero. I love Kuip.
You wonder what the origin of the term was?
Three strikeouts equals hat trick, I can hear a Latin player, after striking out four times, saying Golden Sombrero. Just a guess, but probably happened.
I think Trump came up with the saying. He is very very proud of it.
“I have the very best sayings. The very best. My sayings are so good you’re gonna wanna have sex with them they’re so good.”
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_sombrero
The term was coined by San Diego Padres player Carmelo Martínez in the 1980s and first appeared in print when Leon Durham was quoted as using it in 1984
Slowly but surely we’re seeing the maturation of Strickland as a reliever. He just blew that guy away.
Yes. He did. Emphatically.
Who do the Cardinals play next?
Pirates
Vogey?
Sunday
Yikes! Enchiladas for all Saturday night…
#RallyEnchiladas
Sunday, I’ve heard.
I don’t think they’ll roll over. They’d love to knock the Cardinals out.
Mets play the Phillies so it’s looking like our best shot is WC #2 like 2014. The Pirates will *definitely* not roll over for the Cardinals.
Go Pirates. Suck it Cards.
I hope Kawnah doesn’t try to steal 2B
What you tawkin bout Willis
Base. Hit. For Span.
My god, Kelly
It was the correct call
Kelly is just awful!!! Can he pleased be fired after the season?
Correct this time 4 sure. Mr. Happy got slow feets.
Gotta give him time to work through this…
Lol. Yeah another season or two and she improve to awful up from god awful. I didn’t see this play but he has been terrible.
If you saw it – CG was 5 feet off 3B when the CF got to the baseball. He would’ve been nuts to try to score.
I just said I did not see it. Kelly has a book of plays he screwed up this year. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.
Listen meat. You said you didn’t see the play, so why do you comment?
I am not a fan of Kelly at all. But in this case, you don’t know wtf you are talking about. This seems to happen a lot for you.
Lol
Sorry. I wuz a dick.
No worries. I know the way I watch the games rubs some the wrong way. I don’t take anything on the blog personal.
Conor slower than you
Except when pacman is running towards the pool with a tv set in his arms!
Glad Belt didn’t swing at that one!
Or that one!
Belt with the insurance RBI.
A grand slam would have been nice, but ok …
Save that for Buster.
LOL! The Run Walked In!
Technically it’s a RTI
Good job Belt. Way to make up for Kelly’s mistakes.
You don’t t send the guy with Belt and Posey due up.
Umpire has had a weird zone.
When Brantley used to pitch the 9th who use to pitch the 8th?
Mike…..
Stanton?
Stanton
Jackson?
No, Brantley was 1990-1991. In 1993 it was Mike Jackson hold in the eighth, Rod (Shooter) Beck save in the ninth. Beck had 48 saves that year, IIRC.
Mike Jackson was a BEAST. It was like Sonny Liston, coming in for the 8th! :o)
He was indeed.
Tyson
Nice, runs from both Kawna and Pawka.
It’s Pahka.
Ah yes, Kahna and Pahka.
That was a pitch that Buster used to routinely kill
Let’s make it interesting: Pitch Casilla in the 9th
And the first person ever banned from TWG was… 😉
You sick bastardo. Not Antonio. ;o)
Casilla may have pitched his last game for the Giants. If we make the post season he wil not be on the roster
Let’s not.
The Giants win a close one!
My guess is Casilla was worn out and had dead arm. You give him a week or 2 rest and he comes back strong and reliable again. He is their best option to close.
Anybody interested in a diversion? Anybody interested in rockets? Anybody interested in Mars?

Great link. By the time I got to about high school I thought rockets landing vertically was just bad sci-fi. It’s amazing how wrong that turned out.
I’d take Blackmon in a heartbeat. Maybe they’d do it for Jonah.
Beckham in the game!!!
BB is a Complete jerk wad. Vet love at its worst. This is so disgusting! F U Bochy and F U Evans for enabling this BS!
“‘Vet love at its worst.”
Wait until tomorrow.
HUNTERPENCE!!!
The weakest part of Buster’s defensive game is blocking balls
…in the 9th inning of a 7-2 game.
DFA!
Game. Giants win. Now… the Bums in the most important series of the entire season.
WE WON A SERIES! WE WON A SERIES!
The Giants win a series! The Giants win a series!
Yes Yes Yes
Only the 4th series win since the ASB. : ( But we’ll take it!
Wow. Just wow.
At home no less!
Now we play the Dodgers. Yikes!!
and I bet they are packin’ those stupid tee shirts too : )
Who is pitching Saturday fir the good guys versus Kershaw?
Ty Suach. Or Albert Blaurez.
Solomon Torres?
When did the Giants last turn to a rookie starter with the season coming down to the wire?
Oh, yeah. Bumgarner.
I knew Madison Bumgarner, I served with Madison Bumgarner. Madison Bumgarner was a friend of mine. And you sir– Ty Blach or Alberto Suarez are no Madison Bumgarner
Surf Maui going all Lloyd Bentsen on us!
He got a softball and didn’t miss it.
I highly doubt that he goes with Blach. Albert deserves the start.and he’ll do well.
On the other hand, the Dodgers hit poorly against lefties. Someone suggested a lefty pen game with Blach, Smith, etc.
It will probably be a pen game anyway.and the lefties can’t cover 9 innings anyway. The start SHOULD go to Albert.
Good one!
In the last two games, facing must wins why not Moore and Shark? They would be on regular rest. Bum comes back to pitch the lay in or / WC game.
No your count is off: Smarj pitched Wednesday so he is out.
Suarez/Cain/Peavy on Saturday.
Moore on Sunday.
Hopefully Bum on Wednesday and Cueto (with seven day rest) on Friday in CHI.
Casilla cost Cueto a 20 win season. Pretty good signing
Just looked it up. 18-5, 2.79. Not too bad.
Bum, too. Could have been two 20-game winners for the first time since 1993.
Likely have seen the last of Casilla in a Giants uniform . If we make post season he will not be on the roster
Do you really think they will leave Casilla off the post season roster? No way. He will be on.
They might — he never pitches anymore but you only carry 4 starters so you will have 8-9 relievers.
My guess is that if they make it he is on the roster:
Smith
Lopez
Okert
Romo
Law
Strickland
Kontos
Gearrin
Casilla/Suarez
He’s a better option than Gearrin
I can’t imagine him on a post season roster. If you have no confifence in him– and no one does– he cant pitch. and if he cant pitch in a critical situation, what is the point of taking up a roster spot.
Giants have not hesitated to leave someone off the roster. They have done it before. As i recall Zito, despite his big contract was left off the roster one year. 2010?
Don’t count on it.
Oh, he will be. Count on it.
Let’s go Pirates
Alex reports that 3 of the 5 nl pitchers with 200+ innings
*Gillaspie- clinches a spot on the postseason roster. When your shoes are tied right, everything is right with the world.
*Bochy at his playoff best tonight. Romo with a 5-run lead? With the season on the line every game, you don’t screw around.
*Never paid attention before- Beckham is 4’9” ?
*Michael Mazzeo plays Marco Polo in Geico commercial- hilarious
https://youtu.be/k2EU-Lm_v7g
A note on Casilla-
Over his years here he’s been one of our very best relief pitchers.. When he leaves, he should be remembered that way.if we have clinched by Sunday I’d bet that Bochy gives him an inning. The classy fans will know what’s going on and should give him a standing O..He deserves it.
I concur– but only if there is a 10 or more run lead or deficit
That’s absurd.
There are six potential free agents, and every one of them has had a key part in Giants’ championships (several, in some cases). Romo is homegrown and the second most senior Giant after Cain. Sunday could be the last home game for all of them. It could be tough to script farewell moments for six guys.
Casilla has had a terrible year- we all know that,.. And yeah, there was the “incident” with Bochy .He apologized.apology accepted. It’s over.
He’s now pitching in meaningless situations and he gets ridiculed for that. I could go on and on, but the bottom line is that the end will be terribly sad for him and for any fan who appreciates the many contributions he has made to his team. The others will leave with thanks and good wishes. We should hope that he does, as well. We may not get the opportunity to give to give him the ovation he deserves but we can do it here. It would be the classy thing to do.
To me it looks like the Giants relief core can protect a 5 run lead. It just seems they have difficulty protecting a 1 run lead 30% of the time for 1 inning or 70% of the time on a 1 run lead with 3 innings to go. The Giants have had a run scoring issue. Thing go easier when you score more than 1 2 or 3 runs.
That and this blog is a happier shade of blue.
The Rockies were a good test for a new bullpen. Even your favorite bullpen can have a hard time with their hitters. Like a four run lead in August: Edwards and Chapman both get Blown Saves in the same game. But I think they can get better for the Playoffs.
Maybe the Giants staff has improved too?
Everybody wants to see how the Giants and Cubs will match up now but that bullpen has to come through a few times to get there.
I have not been knocking the bull pen, my knock has been the offense had been inept and was handing over and over and over a 1 run or 2 runs lead to protect for 3 innings. It is about time the offense started to score runs more consistently as they are doing. When they score runs and hand over leads of 2 3 and 4 runs they generally win. Even Casilla had only blow a 2 run lead 1 time in his 40 games.
Not knocking the bullpen?
“To me it looks like the Giants relief core can protect a 5 run lead.”
They could. It was the 1 run leads for 3 innings that they had issues with. That is an offense issue.
just because the bullpen hasn’t crapped a lead in about a week, by no means can be viewed as a “new bullpen”.
Hyperbole much?
There are three games left, only thing to do is hope the starters pitch deeper into games and get enough runs. Any bullpen usage is still a crap shot.
Would “evolved bullpen” be better? That is what I meant by “new”. You do not need new faces if you just get the old ones in their best spots and a bit more comfortable and confident. And yes, this weekend is much more the test than only a week (but we will take it after such a year).
I think things are beginning to shake out. Will Smith is trustworthy. Okert more so than Osich. Strickland is a key piece. Lopez will make a postseason roster if there is one, and we all cross our fingers and hope for Playoff Javi and not 2016 Javi.
You know it’s a game of trends, flows, what have you done for me lately…
There is a new pecking order:
Smith and Okert – top lefties
Strickland, Romo – top righties
Law, Gearrin – fighting through arm issues, but can be sprinkled in
Ride it out.
NO ONE says “problem solved” Most, however are saying “This looks better”
atta boy! Looks Better is more factual than the other stuff being thrown around.
The numbers don’t lie, the losses don’t lie, the pen has been the Giants achilles heel all season.
Now for Evans and Sabean to own up to not fixing it earlier, in the off season, during ST, during the season.
Smith was too little too late. Like putting a band aid on a broken arm.
If we miss the WC by 1 game its on those two above anyone else.
No blue here, dude. Especially not this weekend!
Very interesting story
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/02/magazine/can-new-technology-bring-baseballs-data-revolution-to-fielding.html?smprod=nytcore-ipad&smid=nytcore-ipad-share
Really interesting, thanks
got to book mark this for thorough reading. looks good.
Two Lefty starters now and I am afraid it is Beckham’s turn at 3B; we all see it coming right?
I am becoming a believer in Bap’s #BochyHatesKT
Time for my second cup of Cold Brew and go get some real work done.
A truly strange season.
If Beckham is a big hero this weekend, I’ll shut up, but how weird is it to trade for a guy with six games to go, give him zero ABs for the first three, and then have him play one inning on defense at the end of the third game? I gather they were desperate for a RH bat against Hill and Kershaw, but it’s not like they imported Beltre or Arenado for the weekend (if only we could).
Again, what is the message to Ehire Adrianza and Kelby Tomlinson? We kinda like you, but we can’t trust you. We’d rather bring in someone who has bounced around MLB and hasn’t played meaningful games in quite some time.
Next year we’ll give you a better shot at playing. Yeah, sure we will…
Has Kelby ever played 3b? I seriously doubt Bochy hates KT…
Hopefully yesterday’s comeback is the game that starts the run
V.O.R. 🙂
Naturally, Kelby has, which we’ll probably get a summary and extrapolation soon enough, but still…
Start the run!
Yes, he did in the 1st half
Is he any good? I remember he had some issues at 2b last year at times. Clanked a few… playing 3b is a lot different feel. Ball gets on you quick and need a strong arm.
Willie Mac presented tonight?
Schulman thinks it will be Cueto, and after yesterday, his warrior mentality seems to give him an edge.
Good choice in a year of some questionable performances.
Great choice. Great performances throughout the year.
A good take on the importance of a good bullpen this time of year by Verducci:
http://www.si.com/mlb/2016/09/27/new-nasty-boys-dodgers-bullpen-could-lead-way-very-different-postseason
Crazy that the Dodgers pen is tops by ERA. Totally unexpected. It seemed get the ball to Jansen through prayer, but hats off to Blanton and the bridge guys.
yeah I remember some issues in the first 1/2 overall. Pen really held it together with all those injuries to rotation
Great article linked by GG in twitter feed. I suspect you are hard at work, mango juice in one hand, frittata on a fork in the other, while your other Shiva arms are set to destroy our sense of a morning after game wrap.
Baseball minority trivia for day : how many African American catchers can you name in MLB history? I have a hard time getting past two.
Campanella of course, Howard, Hendricks, I really liked Charles Johnson
I had Johnson and Campanella, to display my ignorance on the matter.
Johnson was last about a decade ago which is pretty sad.
yeah, who is Hendricks ? I’m thinking it possible that Johnson the last AA MLB catch of last 30+ years.
The Giants had an AA catcher when I played LL! His name is Gary Alexander (about 1975/76).
Elrod Hendricks was on some good Orioles teams in the 60s/70s. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/fb2f26105e83929e2670fe462da5ceaf99211775b98978087d5b90cc76b19f2c.jpg
way to dig deep! Dude, a Topps All-Star Rookie !
I have full sets 74-78. 🙂
Elrod Hendricks, Catcher for those late 70s Orioles teams. More hitter than Catcher, but he was their starter.
You totally dissed Johnny Rabb
Keep up the good work. This is informative.
https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/a45e06abef0d25443c8a80aa36b9a6e6f68fa61ee7e71a7ee7395a83b05543c3.jpg
Thanks Matthew, forgot he was a Giant, I remember him as a Brave
A bro catcher as rare as a flat booty black woman!
Roy Capanella. Elston Howard. Earl Battey. John Roseboro. Hey, I got to four!
Don’t make me dig out my Negro League books because im sure theyre are tons in their that would of played MLB imho, whats your thought on that totalfan62?
Manny Sanguillen ?
Only got 3 – good one!
Charles Johnson was the only modern one that came to mind. Former slick glove Marlins catcher, won a bunch of GG in the 90s. I think he played for the Rockies too.
Seriously, is this the most “hated” Giants team ever. Not by the rest of the league, but by their own fans!
So much ire directed at so many points on the roster. You know who they are: Span, Pagan, Casilla, Gillaspie…
guys like Belt routinely catch flak, Strickland, Romo, Roberto Kelly, Bochy and Evans, Bumgarner irks some…
Sincere said it some time ago : This is a hard team to like.
It’s gonna be something watching a team receiving so much ill-will from their own fans going on a run – with some of those ill-will recipients making significant contributions.
Nice, and spot on Cousin.
I wholeheartedly disagree that this is a hard team to like. It’s a frustrating team, It’s a team that causes all of us to vent on a blog. It’s still our Giants
You can call me DeMarcus.
Foothills/Scout are just my online aliases. Gotta run out to practice, bro, work on my free throws.
Go Giants. Baseball is a frustrating sport. Failure is built into the game: at the plate, on the bases, in the field, from the dugout. Those who have played or been close to those who have played know this.
It’s a very imperfect sport if that makes sense. Failure is a option and you can still be great!
Some of the clowns on this blog complain about the Gs possibly purchasing certain players and then complain about said person being a bad guy etc….and they know who they are ! I certainly do not condone violence of any kind but if a guy has paid his debt to society and we pick him up via free agency or trade or whatever then im all for it! Some people here act as if they are so damn perfect and never make any mistakes in life. Remember folks the mistakes that you make in life do not have to be criminal in nature, some of you need to get off your high horse SMH!!
tell em like it is Slikk!!!!
Morning E, it’s tiring listening to the perfectionists here act is if theyre so damn perfect!
” Well i dont want that guy he beats his wife” blah blah blah!
If a guy beats his wife and goes to jail ok thats good but when he’s released give my man a second chance at his baseball life got damn.
Annoying they all want the players to look alike and act alike.
That’s why I love that Cueto has had such a great season, he can go about his business and not have to look or act like the rest of the team.
I want winners, not a suburban boy scout troop.
Exactly!
I think a lot of people have a problem with you because you do not sugar coat anything and you speak your mind, well that’s exactly how i am hell i couldn’t be any other way. Don’t change .
Hell to the no!!!!
It’s Hell to the Naw!!
I bet you like boy scout troops.
That’s cold RobDeer.
Aw, c’mon. E can handle it. He’s made out of teflon.
lol
I’m sure that’s you buddy, all the way.
How are the predictions coming? LOL
Did you just throw out a capitalized LOL? You’re so darn cute.
I read earlier in the year people complaining about Cueto’s dreadlocks!!! Yes complaining about his hair lol. I’d love to dissect some of the people on this blog lol. Put em in a room and just pick em apart with all of their imperfections because lord knows i certainly have mine.
also about the way he wore his hat, like it was going to fit perfect with the locks, they wouldn’t understand culture and style if it hit them in the face.
E don’t get me started on that !!! Man im tellin you i can walk into a Starbucks or a restaurant of some sort and i swear to you it feels like the entire place stops what they’re doing and all eyes are on me lol! I’m use to it now but maybe im not dressinf the way society wants me to dress smh and no folks i do not wear my pants down on my ass.
this is the team that before Span had no AA players for a few years, sad!
Im gonna move on from your post because i could write a book on that lol.
I get the same crap so I really do understand . I’m proud of my underwear so i wear on top of my outerwear It’s disgraceful how we/’re treated for being trend setters. I ordered a cup of coffee at Starbucks 2 years ago and I’m still waiting for it
Maybe your just invisible to The public lol.
True that. What’s also true is that some people are bad people, and their issues and proclivities affect the team chemistry and unity.
I would have a hard time bonding with a man who beat his spouse so badly that he put her in the hospital. Or a man who would fire eight shots into his own home, where his wife was at the time.
Two sides to this debate, sir.
two sides, but the team chemistry thing is way overblown on this blog.
Ever heard of the Billy Martin / Reggie Jackson Yankees? That was no love fest. Hell, Neither were the late 90s/2000s Jeter teams for that matter.
It’s reality, 40 grown men spending 2/3 of the year together, that band of brothers thing is mostly PR BS.
I would not bond with them either just hoped that they play well for the entirety then move the hell on.
Maybe i missed something- who are these bad guys? This is a sincere question.
No Giants fan bears “ill will” toward them. No one “hates” them. Frustrated, disappointed, and confused about a historically bad second half that has them on the brink of missing the postseason altogether? Yep. That’s a NORMAL reaction for a fan. We’re not cyborgs. We’re humans, we’re invested, and we have feelings and opinions–to which we’re absolutely entitled.
Pretty hilarious, though, for an admitted non-Giants fan to be lecturing the rest of us about what bad fans we are. Gotta tip my cap on that one.
C’mon Dr. Toots. I’m a baseball fan pulling for this team.
After 3 WS in the last 6 years I can’t find it in myself to be so harsh about this team. All I needed was the one in 2010 and I am playing with house money. I like that they are talented and in this thing. Have seen much worse years.
It would seem that when any sports team wins a championship, some, but not all fans feel that their team owes them to win more than just one title. When it becomes back-to-back titles or a 3-peat, fans get spoiled and want instant gratification. I was ecstatic to the nth degree when the Giants won in 2010. The other 2 titles were just more icing on the cake.
Well said!
They’re getting hate, but definitely not the most hated EVER.
Who can blame them ? Any team that faces the very real possibility of only going 3 in 6 deserves all the hate that we can give ’em
3 in 7.
All the more reason for the hate.
You are such a die hard fan and not phony at all.
I expect Bechkam to get 3rd base tonight. I think we may, however, also get Span. That’s because Nunez is out and Bruce may want Span to lead off as a result.
We have our reasons to opine about lineups. Gillaspie had a very good game last night. I only see a couple of people poke fun at themselves over their prior meltdowns. These next 3 are so ridiculously tense, it’s gonna be hard, but in the immortal and inspirational words of the great Greek philosopher (no…not Aristotle…GG!)
TOGETHER We’re Giants
Love how Beckham meshes with his teammates instantly and he’s only on the active roster for like a week. If he’s back next year – you’ll hear zero complaints from me and might hear counterarguments to those dissin’ and dismissin’.
Go get em, Gordo – help the Giants get to the playoffs!
It’s all ball bearings these days. What? Do I need to give you boys a refresher course?
David’s little bro is a pretty big dude no?
